i honestly dont know how rich ppl end up committing crimes. if i had even $500K, i would live so peacefully, mind my own business, wear my little outfits, and just feed birds.
heard the craziest story last night at a party. buddy of mine found this $8k couch in an abandoned building, took it home, & found it's haunted. the ghost of a Victorian child would rise off it every night at 3am and stare at him, blankly. he threw the couch on a sidewalk last wk
if you're a young person, ask a middle-aged man what music they listened to in the 90s. let them talk for 30 mins. act interested and say "oh wow no way that's so cool." after that you can ask them for any favor
King of Spain at the final day of Wimbledon. This looks great.
Very rare to see this level of tailoring nowadays, even on the wealthy. So let's talk about some of the reasons why it's great. 🧵
crazy to be burning a pride flag while wearing suction fit jeans that are only considered acceptable today because men challenged gender norms 20 years ago
Man claims “wokeness” in Target’s boys section is “destroying masculinity” after discovering various shirts with rainbows including one with a cloud hula hooping a rainbow and a tropical themed shark shirt.
THE oldest home on the market in America right now is this Plympton MA, also known as “The Stephen Bryant house” which was built in 1669 (!!)
Currently listed for only $800,000
i joined IG for the first time last year and didn't know how it worked. followed a random woman and "liked" her IG story every time it featured her cat. didn't know this sent a "heart" into her DMs. after a year she was like "do we know each other??" was so embarrassed
A lot of people have a hard time separating body type from style. This outfit would not look good on anyone. He needs a jacket; the sweater would look better if it was textured; blue chinos are hard to wear. This same outfit would look bad on a skinny or athletic person. 🧵
I disagree that you dress like Cary Grant. In this thread, I will list some of the ways in which your dress differs and why such important details matter. 🧵
Racegoers fight each other as they scuffle on the second day of the Grand National Festival horse race meeting at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool, north-west England (2024)
#GrandNational
i've said this before, but i feel like there's a bell curve for optimal home size, and past a certain point, it feels like you're living in a commercial space (e.g., malls, shopping courts, resorts, etc). doesn't feel cozy or private.
today, on father's day, i'm thinking about how my dad escaped three wars and worked as a janitor only to see his bloodline die out bc his son discovered menswear forums and spent the next 20 years arguing about pants
They’re so many comments on this TikTok berating the price this artist has set for these hand beaded bags. She is charging $990 and has stated they take 15-17 hours to construct
This list is terrible. When people say that men should never wear a particular item of clothing, their view is often shaped by fear and prejudice. It's also often an issue of them not knowing how to style something. I will run through some examples on this list. 🧵
Here are 40 things a man should never wear:
1. Flips flops unless you’re near a pool or beach.
2. Flamboyant pocket squares. All it says is you pay $1,200 a month for a car you can’t afford.
3. Statement socks. They don’t give you personality or style.
4. Cargo shorts.
5.
used to be that you'd go to a party and get stuck into a convo with someone like this and think "wow this person is really dumb, i need to find an excuse to get out of this convo" but now all these people follow each other on twitter and have built mini-kingdoms
The submarine thing is suspicious. It seems very far fetched that a bunch of billionaires would take such a risky trip to check out the titanic ruins. I mean surely they have more pressing things to do as billionaires... And now they've disappeared. Sounds like an escape plan.
all my tweets are about wearing nice little outfits
— fair wages to buy nice outfits
— housing to store those outfits
— free healthcare so you can wear outfits
— dealing with climate change so you can wear cool jackets
— walkable cities so people can admire your outfits
the older i get, the more i realize that the most luxurious thing is being able to live in a walkable city. wearing a nice little outfit and walking 15 mins to buy just enough groceries for a single dinner will make you feel like Mrs. Dalloway going to the market
i'll never get over how skinny jeans have become so normalized, they're now worn by conservatives lamenting the decline of traditional masculinity.
you don't even have to go as far back as the early 2000s to see how this used to be taboo for men
Aside from the fact that this guy sells online courses on how to get rich, I will explain why it's obvious from his clothes that he's not an aristocrat but rather a middle-class striver. 🧵
I did not once mention Barron and yet everyone instinctively assumed I was referring to him.
Us, Aristocrats, have always stood in the center, undefeated.
You can make your little jokes, but you cannot un-peasant yourself.
stop thinking you need a relationship to be happy. sometimes all you need is affordable housing in a walkable neighborhood where you can wear nice little outfits and get food
all i want is an affordable home in a walkable neighborhood where you can wear a nice little outfit and go get a churro and cup of fruit from street vendors
my impression is that men with a bad sense of aesthetics don't understand that many women don't style themselves to attract men, so your opinion is irrelevant
i saw a therapist last yr bc i kept feeling like everyone hates me, and my therapist kept saying, "just bc you feel something doesn't mean it's a fact," and about a year later, NBC has a headline story that says "everyone hates this guy"
it's actually very reasonable to not want to commute for three hours per day and we should figure out a way to organize cities so that fewer people have to do that
Omg, poor baby has her first job. Like..she has to commute?? Like...she has to cook dinner?? Like...no time or energy to work out?? Like..she's working in person not remote??? Like...She. Has. To. Work. 9. To. 5 ??? What????🙄
when i was on a menswear forum, a n00b claimed his shoes were handwelted, so an older forum member bought a pair of the shoes for $400, ripped them apart, and proved they were not handwelted, thus triggering a series of events that brought down a shoe factory in italy
The producer of Ben Shapiro's show reached out to me to see if I'd like to discuss Ben's attire on his show. Like with Piers Morgan, since Ben invited feedback, I will do a thread comparing him to a menswear icon—this time, Ralph Lauren's Polo Bear. 🧵
interesting how this is trending on conservative twitter but every photo shows dense urban planning, high walkability, and a low number of cars. basically a 15 min city
In 2022, Dave Portnoy spent $3.7M to launch a new company called Brick Watches, through which he tried to sell $2,400 watches. I said on Twitter that they're a ripoff and they're built with $40 quartz movements. He then filmed an 8 min video about how I'm a moron.
i really think something has happened to the global supply of skilled tailors because there's no way you can find a photo of someone pre-1950 looking like this, even in a bar fight
the problem with me is that i want to study art and society, talk about fashion, and pick up a hobby like birding but that's 2nd generational wealth behavior and im the child of immigrants
how to tell if a cashmere knit is high quality
1. cheap cashmere is coated w chemicals, so when ur in a store, bring the sweater up to ur nose & smell it
2. rub it across ur lips to see if it's greasy
3. put the sleeve in ur mouth & taste it
4. now gently chew
5. eat the sleeve
Sometimes I wonder if Tate and his followers know that he's wearing jackets that are historically considered womenswear. The short, tight fit; the stretchy material meant to fit over a bust.
as an introverted person, im so relieved when an extrovert takes something im saying and starts talking about how it relates to them. like, yes, please. keep talking. i don't know how to say more than three sentences.
The issue of respectability in dress, and what constitutes "proper" attire in public, has raged for as long as people have worn clothes. People who take this position fail to recognize that their own clothes were once the "yoga pants" of their day. I will run through examples 🧵
Acceptable occasions to wear yoga pants…
Alone in your house w/ your husband.
Working out alone in your private gym while your husband watches you.
The end.
No public venues. Not social media.
One of the sad things about the slow death of neckwear is that it coincides with a narrowing of men's tailoring, namely suits. This has resulted in some very unfortunate looks. 🧵
every once in a while, someone will share with me photos of their wedding or engagement where they said my posts helped them buy a suit and they look like a bajillion dollars and it seriously makes my day
Someone from
@piersmorgan
's staff asked if I would like to come onto Pier's show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, to talk about the state of his attire. Since he invited feedback, I thought I'd do a thread comparing his style to menswear icon Kermit the Frog. 🧵
the "life after college" video suggests life was better in college, which is true for many ppl. but college life had the same boring routines. the main difference was the ability to essentially live in a walkable neighborhood surrounded by people who were generally better dressed
one of the funny things about this type of dress code is that barring ppl wearing sneakers was par for the course, but now that middle-class ppl wear "dress sneakers" they can't do that. which shows how these codes are more about enforcing class norms than upholding aesthetics
that's right. i believe in
- fair wages so you can afford cool clothes
- right to housing, so you can store those clothes
- universal healthcare so you can be healthy and go outside
- dense, mixed-use development so you can wear your nice little outfits while walking outside
@FranziaMom
His politics are completely based around the right to go out in a nice outfit. So he's got some bad takes. But he's been having forum arguments for longer than most people on here have known what online is, he's like the meme of that old lawyer who dresses like gonzo
