Still can't believe they made One Piece work but failed to deliver on Cowboy Bebop and now potentially Avatar. Both of which are much shorter than One Piece and should have been easier to adapt into live action.

Gameplay is solid, world is neat.
Negatives
Dialogue and story is terrible.
I still enjoyed it overall but if you are looking for a compelling story or characters you aren't going to find it in Atomic Heart. Treat it like a dumb fun action movie.

Seems at the end of the day these people would have the biggest issue with it being released today.
If a show was released today where a disabled girl dominated 90% of fights she was in, was never a love interest to anyone, and actually taught the male protagonist 25% of his combat skillset, they’d call it woke propaganda.

Gamers appreciated Elden Ring and BG3. Both have niche audiences but did so well that it reached mass market appeal. Death Stranding didn't captivate as much as those games did. Not because people didn't get it but it just that it just didn't look fun.

The point I was making is people can understand complex games. Original post was about gamers didn't get it because it was too complicated for them. Elden Ring and Bg3 proves otherwise. One's a soulslike and another is a crpg.

Her life and arc was about not wanting to be sheltered and protected. Her being a police officer and having others look to her for protection and reliability sounds like a pretty good arc to me.
