@shrihacker The shady part is that many colleges don’t allow candidates to consider multiple offers. I got a return offer after my 3rd year summer internship, but got blacklisted from other companies in 4th year because I turned the it down. The clg only wants to flaunt the % placed stat.

@amitp9201 From a company’s perspective it’s a lazy way to filter fresh grads. Consider overhead of a careers-portal where anybody applies vs. getting a placement PoC to filter ppl from x,y,z branches only and give 'em all an online test. It excludes good people in the wider pool though.

@andrewmccalip Self-driving was originally the subset of general purpose robotics to solve because it had a relatively constrained environment (roads markings, signs, traffic rules, etc). That isn’t solved yet, but the hype has already moved on to humanoids. Some of the original grifters too.

@HimRiver @IndiaSpeaksPR The receiver uses GNSS so fine-grain geofencing is likely controlled at the software level. The beam from the satellites will have spillover though.

Random find today, but vscode's (i.e: Chromium) JPEG implementation is way more resilient at decoding partial / corrupted Progressive JPEG files. At the same time, MacOS’ Finder and Preview apps just don’t even bother.

@PuckDaddy93 The CPC policy doc claims that we need to unleash free markets throughout the country, but at the same time they say they won’t change anything on supply management which is essentially market distortion. Seems performative.

@verncrawford @KEriksenV2 Perhaps a downstream effect of abandoning the core tenets of western liberalism. Individual liberty, limited government, and free speech seem threatening when you live off the teat of the state.
