For some more info on the stilts system, they’re basically small padded trash bins that my knees slide into. These stay in the suit legs and are not secured to me beyond occupying the same space within a zipped fursuit

We were suiting in Noodle and Nugget and got confronted in headless and asked to leave. Asking for clarification we were told that any suits that restrict escape (quadsuits, plushsuits, one piece, etc) are banned

This new stilt concept takes the weight completely off the knees and after a bit of practice I was able to move surprisingly quickly. I think there’s potential for less lumbering quad performance if someone were to get really good at the form!

The suit is both quad and plush so it’s very physically demanding, but it’s a bit more comfy than a stilted quad imo. I’ve also been working on it a bit to improve the original ventilation

They’re STILL asserting that crawling quads (Stoof, Bladespark, Spookyjack, etc) are b*tchsuits and fetish gear holy shit…
I’m so, SO incredibly just…. tired… of this take being used to degrade and belittle anything people can stretch to fit
And, yes, we consider these types of suits to be fetish gear. The suits physically bind your limbs, so they are bondage gear.
It doesn't matter if you want to wear one for nonsexual reasons, or that they look cute and cuddly vs fun and sexy.
They're called bitchsuits...

Neither of us are on our elbows in these suits, we have full hand dexterity and hand escapes and can de suit in just under 10 seconds, but just because we have leg stilts puts us in the “ew NSFW bondage gear, must be 18+ hours only” category is absurd

Yep! It’s definitely a workout of a suit but it’s not particularly strenuous on specific joints aside from the wrist and shins. There’s mitigations you can take (shin guards, holding stress balls in hands) to reduce these

I agree with most the safety concerns, but disagree that a valid solution is banning suits
All fursuits restrict the wearer in some form or another. It’s not a clean yes/no line, and nor can we cleanly categorize all possible future suits

This. Every fursuit has some level of responsibility associated with it, and in my experience the more complex the suit, the more the suiters and their selected handlers tend to know their own limits/requirements
Having a two-way conversation with staff about this is essential

ANE Code of Conduct never made any mention of restrictions for quads until mid-convention, after I had already been confronted

I think the plushsuits restriction was just a mistake by the Safety Head, as Con Chair later confirmed plushsuits were okay (despite plushsuits also having many of the concerns they brought up)
Staff overall seemed very confused. Lots of references to internal, unpublished rules

Safety is very important, but rather than solve issues by banning suits I’d hope we can find safe avenues for attendees to perform in all types of unique suits
