Thank you to SAPS, metro police and law enforcement today for their professional handling of the Brackenfell protest and the people of Brackenfell for not allowing the EFF to complete their mission of a racial confrontation
This ridiculous regulation of COGTA minister will put an end to school feeding and soup kitchens. What kind of heartless government are we dealing with here? And how does fetching hot food spread COVID but not fetching cold food. Un-frigging-believable.
Well done
@Our_DA
and
@Siviwe_G
for nominating our South African Healthcare workers for the Nobel Peace Prize! Seems our Prez is more concerned about the Cubans that we paid for.
So I guess chicken or beef in the sky is more important than classrooms and teachers. It is clearer than ever that
@MYANC
has its priorities in the wrong place!
I actually liked Pravin and respected him. Very sad to see so clearly how he is just as bad as the rest and complicit in covering up grand scape corruption.
I have really had it with people destroying the chances of others. Yesterday we had to close 21 schools because of violent protests. What exactly do people hope to achieve by this???
Just spent the most amazing 3 weeks in W Cape. So impressed with quality & price of food when eating out, roads well maintained, beautiful weather. Well done
@alanwinde
,
@geordinhl
and teams. Can see why 31000 tourism doing so well. Now to get a decent national govt!
To the idiot who just threw a rock at my daughter and son-in-law on the N2, I hope you got something out of it. Cos if anything worse had happened I would fly back and hunt you down myself. Others please be warned.
Today I am very excited to be announcing the W Cape’s first Chief Evaluator who will head up the School Evaluation Authority. This body will assess all schools in W Cape on how well they are performing (not only academically) and publish outcomes. Transparency & accountability!
A thought to the ANC ministers complaining that the DA ministers are showing them up - play them at their own game! Try to do better. Good for the country right? 😉
W Cape has 63% of learners in Grade 10 in 2016 who wrote the NSC in 2018. No other province has more than 50%. Proud of W Cape not removing low performing learners from the system.
Get home last night- no lights. Wake up this morning - no lights (after being woken in middle of night with alarm going off cos of no electricity!). It’s really time people saw the LIGHT and voted this corrupt, inept national government OUT of Power!
It's true the DA is only for some - the DA is only for people who want economic growth, to benefit all but especially the poor, the rule of law and a capable state. Quite simple really.
Please let me clarify one thing - my tweet saying "don't tell me what to do" was in response to another tweet. It was ABSOLUTELY NOT directed at the President!
My vote is no secret -
#WindeForPremier
#DemocraticAlliance
#OneSAForAll
. Anyone who still votes ANC after all they’ve done to our country is an accomplice to state capture and corruption. And let’s see how long the lights stay on after Wednesday!
Well done to all our Matric achievers in the W Cape. Tomorrow the wait will be over for individuals. Holding thumbs for you all. So pleased we have the highest retention rate in the country still by a long way! We believe learners should stay in school and complete Matric.
Incredible! Fast action only to get rid of those who confirm the corruption we all know exists! No fast action to sort out the electricity mess or fix the corruption. WHEN will SA stop voting for this!?!
Flight from Cape Town to Durban - just had my combination lock ripped off my suitcase and an item stolen out the bag. I am sick and tired of crime in this country.
Quite sad to see the racism and distortion of
@Our_DA
’s policies and positions by people I respected. I trust the leaders will have more maturity and a longer term vision for a prosperous South Africa for all.
W Cape Education Amendment Bill passed today - school evaluations to be done and published, classroom observations will be done, collaboration and donor funded schools specifically provided for - victory for learners in the W Cape.
Multiple things can be true at the same time.
1. JP Smith is an abrasive, obnoxious man that says some stupid things, and should be barred from any situation or position that requires negotiation or public interface.
2. Much of the taxi industry is run like organised crime...
So while we all sit in traffic for an hour just to get from town onto hospital bend, ministers come with blue lights and sirens and push through. Anger does not begin to describe it.
1. Greylisting is not so bad.
2. We don’t really have to provide you with electricity (but we have a state controlled monopoly and have just announced a minister of electricity)! What next? Not really police’s job to investigate crime?
#ANCLiesAndPatheticExcuses
VERY well done to the W Cape class of 2021 - improvement of 1.3%, over the 80% again, third position in the country with the highest % of bachelor passes, 2 districts in top 10 and improvement in retention from Grade 10-12 to 70%! All during a global pandemic! SUPER proud of you
Wishing all our Matrics the very best as they write the first paper for everyone today. May all the hard work and dedication of all role players come to fruition - keep calm and do your best. 👍
Lovely evening at Bosch Luys Kloof then lunch at Diesel and Cream in Barrydale followed by takeaway supper with Salted caramel tarts from Ou Meul in Riviersonderend

Quite amazed - yesterday the Supreme Court of Appeal dimsissed the Uitzig SGB's case against my decision to close the school WITH COSTS. I don't see a word about it in the media. If it had been the other way round it would have probably been on the front page!
I think Advocate Billy Downer is not getting nearly enough credit for his bravery and tenacity. He has been there from the start and stood up to every dirty trick that tried to stop him pursuing justice. Well done - you are a credit to SA and the legal profession!
White schools in the WC yes have you seen the schools in the townships ? Let alone the rural regions of the WC!? We can’t help it Cutting edge is bias and never exposes the DA
I am devastated to hear of the suicide of two of our Grade 11 girls at La Rochelle this week. My deepest condolences to their families, friends and all at La Rochelle. Support is being given to the school.
So now PetroSA in a similar situation as Eskom! Everything the ANC touches turns to junk. When will they realise that you need SKILLS to run organisations???!!!
As we will today acknowledge the excellence of her district in the matric exams, it is with great sadness that we learnt last night of the passing of District Director Central Sanette Nowers. Sincere condolences to all her friends, family and colleagues. MHSRIP.
@helenzille
@ThuliMadonsela3
Congrats
@ThuliMadonsela3
. Quite rightly, she is surprised to receive awards for doing her job and gave credit to her team. If only more people had such integrity and did the job they signed up for!
So proud of many of our schools continually feeding learners fully supported by
@WCEDnews
The
@WesternCapeGov
has now delivered over 2 Million meals in the Western Cape.
So proud to many of our aunties cooking daily for our learners.
Well done to all. 🙌🙌🙌
A very happy World Teacher's Day to all teachers, but especially those in
@wcednews
! You have many hours with children every day - what you say and do influences them for the rest of their lives. That is a huge responsibility. Please use it well.
Our excellent maths teachers honing their skills at the advanced diploma for maths teachers being presented by
@_SUNCEP
. I also visited the Technical Science lecture - we MUST improve these skills to give our youth a productive future and improve our economy!
2021 school calendar is out. Only about 2 days shorter than usual, and allowing for a bit of a later start so teachers can finish marking matric exams.
@fanamokoena
@moozir
You didn’t. You said nobody will own private land. They will need a licence. So they WILL lose their property and all the equity that they may have built up through it.
To every hardworking individual who makes up the
@WCEDnews
- a very happy workers day to you all. Without you we could not deliver quality education for every child in every class in every school in the province.
So I guess we now know what to expect in the budget - slash budgets we desperately need AND then top slice for yet another youth programme when others haven’t worked - a slash and slice budget?
@News24
@AlexMitchley
I don’t believe it’s only in Home Affairs. SA needs to WAKE UP and stop regarding corruption as the normal way of doing business!
This morning I am handing over 10 sets of early Grade readers to 10 primary schools in Nyanga and Gugulethu to celebrate Human Rights Day and Freedom Day. No freedom without education 😀
