Everybody was so welcoming.
The course condition & presentation in the US is always top class.

Tough course but excellent.
Stunning par 4’s. Perfect condition.
Held 4 US opens, 2 PGA’s and the Solheim Cup in 2021.
Ranked No.61 in the world.

Played Chicago GC today.
No. 17 in the world.
Seth Raynor remodelled the C B Macdonald course 101 years ago.
They turned a square field into a masterpiece. How modern designers don’t copy this is beyond me.
It’s a work of art, especially around the greens. Special.

Dr. Alister MacKenzie does it again.
Crystal Downs is another gem for the great designer to add to his long list.
Ranked No.34 in the world and well deserved.
The 2 nines are so different but both excellent. Tricky greens as you would expect.
Huge variety. Super course 👏👏

The Lido GC
What a crazy idea
The original Lido opened in 1917 on Long Island but closed in 1942.
It was designed by C B MacDoanld and overseen by Seth Raynor (both legends).
An exact replica has opened 3 hours north of Chicago
No. 68 in the world after 1 year.
Brilliant 👏

Donald Ross - the Scottish designer was up there with the best.
He was a wee genius.
Oak Hill CC - hard to imagine a course in better condition. Pure class.
Should be higher rated than No. 69 in the world.
Has held 7 majors & a Ryder Cup.
Those old designers 👏👏

Old Sandwich GC is just over 1 hour south of Boston.
Stunning golf course that would remind you of Sunningdale and maybe Pinehurst a little.
Super layout. Designed by Coore & Crenshaw.
Classy clubhouse & facilities.
Great atmosphere about the place.
Very enjoyable day.

Machrihanish GC
Ranked No. 97 in the world.
3 hour drive from Glasgow but well worth it.
1st hole & the front nine get all the headlines but the back nine into the wind was super too (18th is ordinary).
Well worth playing. £120 is fair.
Designed by Old Tom Morris in 1879.

The Country Club, Brookline is ranked No.39 in the world.
Held the US Open 4 times and the Ryder Cup in 1999.
Top quality course in excellent condition. A joy to play.
The first pic is the bunker where Matt Fitzpatrick hit to the green from on the 18th to win in 2022.

Designed in 1927.
An amazing golf course in perfect condition. A heathland course that is up there with Sunningdale or Wentworth.
Stunning greens. 18 great holes.

That happened yesterday.
Had not heard much about The Berkshire Red course.
It’s brilliant. The head greenkeeper deserves an award. Immaculate.
Stunning course with 6 par 3’s, 4’s & 5’s. Unusual but great 👏👏

Shinnecock Hills is ranked No. 4 in the world and it’s easy to see why.
Incredibly tough with greens that have so many run offs.
Almost every green is elevated which adds to the difficulty.
Very enjoyable on a nice day.

The 3rd nine is well worth playing too.

Got to play St. George’s Hill today which is not far from Sunningdale.
Beautiful course.
In all World Top 100 lists.
Was designed by Harry Colt & opened in 1913.
Plenty of false fronts.
Greens were fast & tricky.
Was in super condition. Par 70.
Well worth playing.

Starting to get a little bit addicted to English Heathland Courses.
They are brilliant.
A must if you have not tried.
Today Woking GC. Stunning.
Top class condition. Magic greens.
Close to Sunningdale, Swinley Forest,

Gleneagles - Kings course.
Chicago GC probably has the best opening 4 holes in the world, but the first 4 here are not far behind.
Great golf course in Mint condition.
Super front nine. Last 3 holes not as strong as the rest.
£325 is expensive but worth paying once for sure.

No. 1 course in Sweden.
First 6 holes are good but the last 12 are excellent. Water in play on 13 holes in total.
No’s 9, 10, 15, 16, 17 are top class.
In super condition.
Green fee of €195 is more than fair.
Stockholm is a stunning city too.

Played Druids Glen today (just south of Dublin) for the first time since the course work & changes.
Certainly much nicer than before especially the 4th hole.
Some odd bunkering in the middle of the fairway on 6, 11 and 16.
Super golf course.
Not many nicer par 4’s than 13.

Have played 7 rounds in 8 days in the US on tough courses and can honestly say the pace of play in the US is super.
Longest round has been 4 hours.
4 times in a 4 ball.
Back in Ireland the pace of play is a big problem.
4 hours if your very lucky.
Not good enough. 😖😖

Machrihanish Dunes GC
Located beside Machrihanish GC & is certainly worth playing.
Great layout. Lorna in the shop was super. Willie the 78 year old is a funny man.
Fairway condition only ok.
Opened in 2009 & I’m always amazed why some modern designers have crazy greens 🤔🫣

This Ryder Cup venue from 2018 is in super condition. Great greens.
Holes 12 - 18 provide a top class finish. A great test of golf.

The old designers from 100 years ago were so much better.
He only had 92 acres to use. Amazing.
A brilliant golf course with the most perfect greens imaginable that are so quick.

Overlooks the Hudson.
Hard to imagine greens being any faster. Perfect.
A great front 9 and a stunning back 9 including the famous 16th par 3.

15 mins to Castle Stuart.
Rooms are good. Food is good.

When it comes to Seth Raynor’s designs, there are none that I enjoy more than Fishers Island.
There’s so much to love about a round of golf here, and it’s hard to describe what makes it so special.
For me, I think it’s partially how delicate the course appears - it looks like
