After 11 years there is a degree of sadness to leaving the great people at LSBU but I am really excited to have the chance to join the team at the OU and to be part of its journey as it continues to break down barriers to educational Opportunities across the 4 Nations & globally
We are delighted to announce that @david_phoenixvc has been appointed as our next Vice-Chancellor. He will take up his post in July 2025. Professor Josie Fraser will continue in her role as interim Vice-Chancellor until Professor Phoenix’s arrival.

From a societal perspective - and an employer perspective - moving a larger proportion of the population to level 4 is going to be needed though and advice and guidance on progression routes from school age is a key aspect of this hence the schools and skills interface
@David_PhoenixVC Skills needs of most of the 8 sectors of the industrial strategy will be at L4-8 not Level 3 and below All funding at L8, most at L7, 99% at L6 in HE not the skills system Maybe equal funding split at L4/5 OfS arguably more critical than SE @SpatialityJones
