Or you can be like a certain officer in a certain artillery regiment in a certain big city who just decided he didn't like the look of his uniform (in this case mess kit) and, being a huge fan of Master and Commander, created his own reflective of a 18th century Royal Navy Captain! And wore it to mess dinners! Just get your own uniform made up and say you've been chosen to trial it!
