I’m not loving the trend in Canadian society of the police explaining to the public that it’s better that they do not arrest people flagrantly breaking a kinda serious law.
Officers were at the Eaton’s Centre to respond to a protest where threats were directed to a member of the public, not to police. The victim chose not to pursue the matter. TPA members are working each day to ensure protests do not escalate & we are grateful for their efforts.

Hardest thing I’ve ever written, now live at @the_lineca. “What I Saw Hamas Do”. “All that’s left is a mass of pulverized viscera or remains burnt into little more than carbonized ash. But sometimes you can tell they were kids because of the pyjamas.”

This is correct. Trudeau isn’t to blame for Trump. Trump is Trump. Trudeau is to blame for leaving Canada in a weak place to respond to Trump. Too many Trudeau supporters are pretending to not understand this. Loyal to the end, I guess.
It's not Justin Trudeau's fault that Trump is unhinged, rancid, amoral, fascisistic loon, but the chaos Trump's exploiting today? A lot of that IS at his feet.

I don’t even know what to say. The proposal is insane. What the hell is going on with them?.
LPC House Leader Karina Gould sought unanimous consent to strike Anthony Rota's comments about Yaroslav Hunka from the record and the CPC denied it. CPC MP Marty Morantz says “deleting the words from Hansard would only have one purpose, to try and forget what happened" #cdnpoli

Oh my God, Pt. II. I could write a whole other column about this. But I won't. I'll just say this. 1. Saying we'll just bring in more foreign doctors if tax changes drive out ones we already have is not a good answer on its own merits. You're admitting it's a problem. 1/3.
Incredible. Minister admits capital gains increases could cause family doctors to leave Canada. Not to worry, though, she says, we’ll just bring in more foreign trained docs.

It wasn’t long ago in our country that we had serious people counting the number of characters in tweets to check if they might have been a coded Nazi message. This dude just goes on TV to pledge more Jew slaughter and millions of North Americans won’t take it seriously.

I’m still processing this. It’s bonkers. It is simply not sustainable for the PM to take a position that PP is being irresponsible by not getting a security clearance but also that the guy with the security clearance sent as PP’s emissary to be briefed didn’t have a need to know.
Poilievre's chief of staff Ian Todd has security clearance and has been briefed. Trudeau asked why in briefings Todd never told about Conservative parliamentarians at risk of being compromised by foreign interference. He suggests because Todd doesn't have a "need to know."

I wrote about the prime minister years ago that he often gets himself into trouble when he tries to do something bold and dramatic. I don’t think he fully thought through the end point of what he did today. But read Poilievre’s statement. He figured it out real quick.

I know most people don't care about guns as a policy issue, but if you care at all about good government, the idea of banning a series of items for purchase but not having a list to share of what those items is absolutely insane. Absolutely insane levels of incompetence.
"We have banned 324 firearms effective immediately.". "Cool. Since it's effective immediately, could you share the list immediately?". "No.".

I said a yesterday to a friend that it is pretty amazing that the Liberal caucus is full of such gormless weasels that we're actually doing a cabinet shuffle just to buy time for the PM to reflect and realize he's screwed. Books will be written about their utter lack of garumba.
#Breaking Justin Trudeau will shuffle his cabinet tomorrow morning according to two sources who have spoken to Global News.

This is because I bought two Ontario craft beers at a local convenience store.
@mattgurney I am quite frankly tired of self righteous alcoholics like yourself that don’t see how bad this will be for public safety and the healthcare system. They’re going to overwhelm EMS entirely.

This is a great example of what @cselley once said about Canadian Liberals: they sincerely believe that they are not the kind of people who would ever do the thing they are currently doing.
Beyond troubling to see another mass shooting in Canada, now in Winnipeg. And we've lost so many police officers. Might it be the anti-social 'burn everything down' far-right attitude we're seeing creeping in from the US? And the 'creep' on the Canadian side? Pierre Poilievre?.

I worry a lot about what’s happening down south but never forget that Canadians have been hugely lucky to have the neighbours we do.
🤝Help is on the way. A HUGE thank you to the San Diego County Water Authority for helping source this piece of feeder main pipe. It is currently being transported from San Diego to Calgary and will be arriving this week. ❤️ Stay classy, San Diego. ➡

How fucking hard is it for our politicians to strike this apparently magical balance between strongly condemning the astonishingly cruel savagery we saw in Israel today while also hoping that the inevitable and necessary military response causes minimal collateral damage?.

I've already addressed that narrative many times. I think it's delusional. A Trump win is a political nightmare for the LPC, on two fronts. 1. Trump makes Poilievre look more normal, not scary. 2. The LPC is already exhausted and overstretched. Their lives just got WAY harder.
@mattgurney Maybe you can address the current narrative that a Trump win is positive for Trudeau and the LPC. Would like to hear your views on this….

And that is why we are trimming the defence budget.
Our world is marked by geopolitical turbulence, unpredictability and uncertainty. The tectonic plates of the world order are shifting beneath our feet. And, the structures that are built upon them are fracturing. Bad actors seek to re-shape the very rules that have kept us safe.

This is gross. I dunno how some of these people are going to ever come back to reality. They're gone.
A video is being shared widely on social media that depicts a protester in Belleville yelling "you're a pathetic Jew" at least twice to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Protest is essential to any democracy, but hatred spreads when it is tolerated. We urge any media sharing the

Matt Gurney: What I got wrong about Poilievre, now live at @the_lineca. I thought he'd steer the party into oblivion. He's on course to win the biggest majority in my living memory. I was wrong. But about what? I asked around.

Here is a tidbit. On the stand today, the PM said that he can only imagine the reaction if he said that he didn’t know things because he’d just let his chief of staff know the things and decide instead. WE DON’T HAVE TO IMAGINE THAT!!!!! THAT’S A THING THAT KEEPS HAPPENING!!!!!.

I find it fascinating how the prime minister woke up one day and decided to give his harshest critics a ton of completely valid (political) ammunition to use against him. I don’t pay a ton of attention to Saskatchewan politics and I don’t know much about Moe, but he’s right here.
Trudeau has provided a carbon tax exemption on home heating for families in one part of the country, but not here. It’s unfair, it’s unacceptable, and here’s what we’re going to do about it.

I've seen "Canada should have nukes" floating around a few times today among some of the dimmer accounts here. I have no problem with the idea of Canada having nukes, morally. But can you even IMAGINE the Canadian Nuclear Weapons Development Program?. We can't do trains.
@mattgurney I remember a notorious comment troll who said Canada should have a nukes to protect ourselves from the US. And honestly, he had a point. It’s baffling that our most anti-American nationalists are also militantly opposed to strengthening the Canadian Forces. (Pun intended.).

Plans for Canada defence dept budget cuts comes just weeks after Liberal Govt agreed with other NATO allies on a pledge to make the alliance's defence spending benchmark of 2% of GDP an "enduring commitment."

I like this statement. I haven’t seen any from government members. Did I miss some? Or nothing yet?.
The elimination of Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah, means justice for countless families that have lost loved ones at the hands of this genocidal terrorist. The people of Israel, Lebanon and the Middle East have suffered for decades as a result of his violence and terror,.

This is … uh … a take. Mr. Dong remained in the Liberal caucus for years. Only left well after this became public. And many prominent Liberals were very loud and proud in saying he’d been wronged and would be vindicated. Until they suddenly stopped saying that.
Trudeau asked if he knows of Liberal parliamentarians at risk of being compromised by foreign interference. Yes, he says. What actions were taken?.He cites hearing's focus on Don Valley North. "There have been actions taken and choices made based on information I had . ".
