Meaningful work is done on page? You mean schema? Page titles? Most on-page SEO is superstition..! Having a house with wiring and plumbing for hot, cold and waste water = just empty pipes ... You have to have off-page authority for any of that to work. On-page Optimization is nearly impossible - sure, if you have buckets of authority (from external sources) - you can add Hx tags and widen your ranking but you cannot rank without authority

RT @MordyOberstein: My biggest takeaway from this study: The internet, as we know it, is in a death spiral I find this study from @semrush…

You're welcome - I'm currently serving as a mod for one of the worlds largest forums for SEO >200k people - I see this all the time Without authority, content cant rank. Machine scaled authority is easy to catch - Google has been at it 20 years. Admittedly, a lot of PBNs (really, link farms) exist though.

This blog post ranks - there is no content. Writing reams of content is the Content / copy blogger demand gen myth / disinformation - that a lot of "ai" tools have fallen into thinking " oh, this is how SEO works" Here's founder cards SEO - they dont rank for anything but thier brand name but they target 20k terms though 15k pages

This not how SEO works. You need authority which is external You cannot give yourself authority because Google doesnt know who you are or if you say who you are or where you got your content from So you cannot "optimize content" My number 1 page is an embedded video (and no, Google doesnt know what is in the video) Google is actually content agnostic. The "optimized" content is an unfortunate myth

@sethking_eng @nathangotch How they do that is up to Google but they got massive precision w9ith HCU and direct search targeting. If the content is built to match or maipulate search - HOWEVER google wants to catch/target is up to them

@sethking_eng @nathangotch Never said that. AI content is welcome. I said machine-scaled. In other words - a machine comes up with targeted topics, creates and publishes content

@sethking_eng @nathangotch There's also no such thing as "good content" - content doesnt rank itself. Content/the document is the claim. you can produce 10 or 10,000 documents - you need authority - specifically topical - or you literally cannot rank.

@marc_laclear I dont think people understand how broad it is. Something could be subjectively brilliant and 1 hour later subjectively brutal tuna poop.... because people learn and change their minds

Focus on needs - keywords and use your brand to solve the problem Starting with the brand is doomed ⬇️👇⬇️👇⬇️👇⬇️👇⬇️
I’m really anti this whole narrative I’m seeing in the SEO space about “brand awareness” The awareness is not a thing per se it’s a natural result of deeply rooted brand work + resonance +activity that aligns with all that deeply rooted brand work Don’t focus on brand awareness focus on brand connection

IF - you have the authority. IF. Most site <15% have a DA over 50.... IF you have the authority - you can also add more Hx tags - thats why Google put a scroll limit on recipe pages. Thats why they're so long They dont "rank" first because of length - thats authority They have breadth of rank - ranking for thousands of associated phrases. Thats why the mass of advice for low DA (aka new ) sites is focus - because thats what the observation shows
