@ghost_gurney Colwood had 100s of calls. Many family docs want to do medicine without being a small business owner, and this is a new way to make that possible. To keep GPs practicing the workload needs to be manageable and need to be supported. Recruitment $$ don’t do either.

@kootenaysdoc Back country skiing no, but my godfather with head in to some ice fishing lakes by ski if the conditions are right. I prefer snowshoes. And yes it’s a beautiful place to live.

Excited to see a party suggest a plan for healthcare in the North. We need a Northern ROCCS (Rural Ontario Care Coordination Service) Collaborative, integrated, identifying problems and implementing solutions, to improve the health of Northern communities.
NDP's Marit Stiles promises 350 new doctors for the north, Northern Command Centre - there is $$$ in the system. Let's elect a government that spends our $$ on what we need here in the north. #ondp #VoteDavidTimeriski

@annafoat It is bad. 2 friends killed 15d ago by CMV. Drove from Wawa-TBay-Red Lake in squalls 2 days. Three cars in the ditch. Transport doing 30kph up a hill with no 4ways, another passing in oncoming lane on a corner, another refusing to move into the right lane during a passing lane.

Highways in the North are essential for travel to work, medical appointments, transporting goods, and recreation. They must be safer. Better winter maintenance. Centre lane buffer. More use of rail for freight. More CMV enforcement.

I would think the updated screening program is apolitical and science-based? Women’s health sidelined again. Disappointing.

Cervical cancer screening is changing in Ontario. @OntarioCollege organised a webinar to update MDs on the new program. Yesterday it was cancelled as the speakers were not allowed to present due to the election. Women’s health - less important than an election. Outrageous

The North is stretched beyond capacity and there is nowhere else for patients to go. Sioux Lookout supports 31 remote communities. Thunder Bay Regional supports all of NW Ontario. What’s happening in the North is a preview of what is coming to the South. We need action now!
Emergency Departments across the North are stretched beyond capacity. This isn’t just about patient volumes—it’s about a system without enough doctors and resources. This election, health care needs to be a priority.
