Orianna players rejoice! For her VFX update I added a tether indicator like Anivia R/Rell E that is much more accurate for when you are getting far from Ball. I wanted this change 10 years ago when I started playing Ori, never would have imagined I'd be the one to add it :D

Riot August shared a scrapped version of Smolder where he'd be the son of which ever dragon rift for the game and gain a unique bonus on his Q per rift. This was scrapped due to requiring a lot of art resources and was a bit too pushed on the RNG

Pondering some Dr. Mundo changes, looking for any feedback. Goals:
1) Minimally/don't change winrate
2) Make him more late game skewed and less early game
3) Reduce earflicks (feelsbad kit messups)

She actually does scratch that itch for me personally, and I do consider Bel'Veth a "monster champ" but for others she wasn't monstruous enough, so we decided to make another, more monstruous champ :)
For those who don't know, I haven't been on champions team for a little bit now, and I've instead been cooking up those 60 new Augments for the return of Arena! I'm suuuuper excited for everyone to see and play with them!

To not burry the lead, I am still at Riot. My heart is just... in so much pain today. Need time to process. I know a lot of these Rioters, and all I can say for now is I legitimately ache for you.

I hope players have been enjoying the Tooltip updates that have been rolling out. Streamlining our game language, in my opinion, is important to long term game health... plus they look so pretty!
Don't think I've mentioned this yet, but I've swapped over to the modes team to help them out for a bit. You'll see some of my work there soon, but the smol cute monster was the last champion I worked on directly before swapping teams. Exciting to see him teased today!

Kai’Sa players, would you rather see your evolution progress:
1) In each basic ability tooltip individually
2) All on the passive tooltip
3) Both 1 and 2

We are making some pretty big changes to the Curse Augments in Arena! The Curse Augments are quite popular, but also very weak and have been extremifying a lot of matchups. We want to keep their focus on permanent stat scaling, but make them more broadly accessible. (1/2)

Great question! Dragons in Runeterra are pretty malleable in their egg and youth. This is why elemental drake eggs take on attributes of the environment in which they incubate. Similarly, Smolder can talk because he spent time amongst humans as an infant, while his mother did not
I find it very interesting that the Arcane reviews all call out that it “broke the curse” of video game media. I totally agree, but also, the reason it did is because THEY ACTUALLY TREATED IT SERIOUSLY AND DIDN’T MAKE CRINGEY PANDERING
Illaoi is an absolutely incredible protagonist in Ruined King. I really like how ALL of the cast are written, but I think Illaoi really stands out. She is just such a unique main character for an RPG on so many levels, and executed in a way that feels so genuine.
Who are some female characters you find empowering that are not the “girlboss” archetype? Characters who aren’t powerful/cool through stereotypically masculine traits.

It's similar to Rengar P, so Akshan must have gotten the kill or very recently damaged them. There is no cooldown on enemies becoming Scoundrels, but Scoundrels last 1 minute and are all cleansed whenever Akshan kills one.

Great question! There are two main factors that make bot not his optimal lane:
1 - Less roaming potential
2 - A very low attack range compared to other ADCs
A+click is an awesome skill test for Marksmen. However, the strengths and weaknesses of the class doesn't mean that MUST be the primary skill test. A goal of Smolder's was to be a Marksman who doesn't rely on A+click, and I love seeing how many people that has brought to the role

When I left Champion team at the end of 2020, I had finished design locking a kit and handed it off to a different designer.
I kind have to see the actual production process from afar now but dear god it's coming together so nicely. So excited for when it's released.

Stoked to finally introduce Vex! I've never had an easier time laning against a Fizz. Instead of "the Gloomist" we considered "the 8th Grade" and "the Not a Phase" but cooler heads prevailed.
RTSs failed to innovate and deserved to die as a genre. If they compromised on ANY axis of accessibility we would see better games and a larger playerbase.
If I were to make Runeterra themed D&D 5e subclasses, what would you expect to see? For example, Sentinel of Light as a Paladin Oath or Dauntless Vanguard as a Fighter Martial Archetype
Clarification for Arena players, but the change to Moonstone was pulled and is not shipping, so it will remain the same and continue to work with Restless Restoration, heal-over-time Abilities, etc!
