@JurcekaJan The quality of the name here isn't really relevant to what I'm saying, though, which is why I didn't comment on it myself. When sky's the limit in terms of naming your guns, all you need to do in case of a lame name is to just come up with a better one.

Looks like the Atelier series is going back to hard time limits with Atelier Resleriana, and the time limit is now harder than its ever been - after all, you will never be able to play the game again once the time limit that is the inevitable end of service hits :)

Literally every company in the webtoon industry operates with the exact same maximum greed mindset. It's utterly miserable and frankly I would be happy to see the entire industry crash and burn, as maybe then we could see actually sensible business models emerge from the ashes

Imagine being so mind poisoned that you'd probably prefer a garbled machine translation that makes no sense over a professional translation by a real human being because the latter actually reads like natural English and has thus been "westernized the shit out of"

@Misteryaroo @acvalens Nah, this push is primarily coming from hardcore evangelical anti-porn organizations like Exodus Cry whose endgame is to destroy porn and erotic art in its entirety.

@TheChillSadist FYI, I'm not from the US. A chunk of my tax euros certainly still go toward funding weapons but I'm okay with that fact because the Finnish army is purely a defense force and our country is right next to Russia

Wow, this dude actually made a video about my tweet. In which he did zero research into my profile to see if I even actually do JP-EN media TL (which, as said, I don't). Instead, he just smugly reads replies and QRTs. Never let facts get in the way of a good narrative, eh?

Unfortunately, this is basically just modern copyright laws working exactly as intended. The terms are obscenely long, transferable etc precisely so that massive megacorps can keep older content locked up and unavailable in order to drive consumers to always buy their new stuff

This is like, a new level of antagonism from Nintendo Patching the 3DS to be harder to hack, when it’s EOL and not possible to buy games anymore, means they truly find value in their games being inaccessible, on a deep, corporate profit level What the fuck

Your occasional reminder that Witch Craft Works was originally drafted as a yuri title but after getting a no on the yuri from editorial the author just low effort swapped the MC from girl to boy and that's how we got to picture related lol

Thanks [western gaming site] for reminding me monthly that visual novels, dating sims and everything in-between are dreck from murky cherry-blossom-strewn waters that require masochism at bare minimum to enjoy :))))

A general wasei-eigo reminder: if you see something that looks like English in the middle of some Japanese text, it's quite likely that it doesn't actually mean what it does in English and you should always make sure to check the JP meaning and translate accordingly

For reference, after months of hyping up their license and release of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Netflix's release (1/3): - Doesn't have the iconic ending, Fly Me to the Moon (!!!) - Whenever it was also used as BGM originally has been replaced with... just silence

Yeah, paying $5/month for machine translated manga does sound about as enjoyable as catching a coronavirus. So props to Corona EX for at least being honest with their service naming!

@LumpyTheCook Spec Ops The Line is actually worth remembering for its ludonarrative merits though because it actually made good use of its gameplay to support its narrative, unlike many big games today that act like gameplay is some kind of non-canon distraction between the Real Narrative Bits

@SatiricalFey Transcribing audio is a relatively far easier problem (and it still isn't easy!) than translating from one language to another, especially for languages as different as Japanese and English, and especially for fiction where the layers of context can stretch to infinity.

And so it is over after 33 volumes... Ascendance of a Bookworm has been an amazing journey. Truly a modern day fantasy epic that I can highly recommend to anyone. It has been my favorite light novel series ever since I read the first volume 5+ years ago and remains as such today.

The bigots on the right are very much the overall worse people of course by nature of being right wing bigots but I really wish the people on the left would either get better takes on sexiness in video games or alternatively shut the hell up if they can't be coherent about it
