Anyone else notice that it's an election year? @harrisonhamm21 takes a look at the engagement and thoughts of Denisonians. They're grumpy about the candidates, but still interested, and wary of the chaos that appears likely to surround this election.

Happy eclipse day! 127 decided to take a look at where students reported partying using spring survey data dating back several years. It's no surprise to us that party places have been changing quite a bit. Does this accord with your experience?

Denison has not quite been rocked by division over the War in Gaza, but is there evidence of polarization? Taking a quick look here in advance of the teach-in on Palestine happening tomorrow in Knobel Hall at 5pm

New evidence shows that young adults are shifting away from drinking. Are Denisonians doing the same? I combine semesterly survey data from 2020-2023 to take a look.

How much do students use AI and what do they think about it? Doomsayers predicted the end of higher ed, but that doesn't appear to be the case for our students. It's very early in the rollout of AI, so these stats will change and we'll be here for it!

2023 was a milestone for Denison -- 1st time a majority of students (54%) id'd as non-religious. One implication is growing numbers look askance at religion as a source of division but strong majorities, *Christian + not*, think Christianity is divisive

When it comes to global politics, how much daylight is there between the average Denison student and the average international relations (IR) professor? @MDWilliamsPhD in the Data for Political Research program takes a look.

It's debatable whether we are in the post-Trump era, but has the Biden presidency given enough breathing room for Republicans to gain some identifiers among Denisonians? Are Republicans resurging?

It has been hard to avoid hearing the term “woke” if you’ve been paying any attention to presidential politics of the last year. And it’s not being used in a flattering light. Is there any enthusiasm for the concept on campus? Well, we asked recently:

There isn't much that Republicans and Democrats agree on these days, but could Denison's partisans agree on the high profile ballot measures on abortion rights and legalizing weed in play in Ohio this election cycle? We check it out with brand new data.

We've seen the headlines that white evangelicals think Christians (and whites) face as much or more discrimination than do Muslims and Blacks in the US. Do we see the same pattern among Denison students?

Social support - bumming a ride, getting notes, etc - is crucial to successfully and happily navigating college. It's no surprise that support increases in extra-curricular activities and orgs and increases across the 4 years. Going to miss Will Duquette!

We're going to miss Alex's voice on 127 as she moves on to DC to do great things. Here's her love letter to Denison with some graphs, of course. Thanks Alex!

In 127’s most recent survey, we asked a handful of questions regarding Denisonians’ relationship with religion and found that very few Denisonians pose much of any engagement with their religion, if they have any (and fewer do). Great post by Alex Lazo.

127 continues to take the pulse of students about the value of public service careers, wondering if the polarization will ever get to them. The answer is NOT YET. And there isn't a difference by partisanship either. Good work Will D.

Denison made a major investment in student wellness and mental health with the new Hoaglin Center. Did student mental health improve at all? Alex Lazo takes an early look at the evidence.

We were curious about long-distance relationships, thinking that they would fade across the academic year as freshmen got involved in campus. Well, we were wrong -- there's an entirely different pattern.
