Crunching some numbers tonight. The ACC is more valuable to ESPN even without CU/FSU, than breaking up the league and sending teams to Big 12 and elsewhere. It would be crazy to force such a move. I'm looking for every possible way the ACC could fail and there is only one. ESPN

The ACC (Clemson) has as much success in the CFP as the entire Big 10 conference. Anything short of the Big 10's number would be ridiculous and inappropriate. The SEC is the only conference that should be getting a higher share based on results. The Big 12 should get very little.

I modeled the depth/quality of each conference in a number of realignment scenarios. Note the very large gap in the top one after the shifts this Summer. The only scenario where the Big 12 moves ahead of the ACC is if both FSU/CU go to their conference.

The ACC isn't going anywhere. There will be NO implosion like the Big 12 people are hoping for. If the TV contract isn't renewed, a new contract could be implemented. Or, an entirely new conference created keeping the top schools and dropping the bottom.

The ACC geography is a very high growth geography compared to the Big 12. So when you start thinking about who may or may not survive, I don't see any scenario where Wall Street forces the ACC to implode. Every important metric to look at is better than the Big 12.

outcomes are still possible here with both of these schools. If ND somehow agreed to be a full member in football, the ACC's depth becomes equivalent with the SEC and I bet FSU/CU stay if the revenue reflects fair market value. That's just one of the many outcomes possible.
