@saribethrose Let's not forget parents/citizens looking for a battle without reason. We had parents showing up at board meetings with lists of books they wanted banned from libraries that no school even owned. They never cared to look before they started the war.

@piper4missouri MO has some of the loosest gun laws in the country. Parsons signed the Second Amendment Preservation Act, which basically said MO police can't enforce Federal gun laws. He is directly responsible for our gun violence problems, whicg are some of the worst in the country.

This is my new reality as a school librarian in Missouri. Jail time. The same extremists trying to ban books send their elementary kids to school wearing Deadpool backpacks and singing song lyrics with cuss words or suggestive theming. Why the hypocrisy?.

Happened in my school district, too. A group showed up with a list of books they wanted taken out of the libraries. Read sexual excerpts in anger to the board. The problem? No libraries even owned them. They didn't even look. Political extremists at work.

@piper4missouri When you work in MO public schools, you have to "steal" from home/your own bank account to bring supplies to work in order to make it through the year. That kind of theft seems totally fine to politicians, though.

@blythebernhard As a teacher I worry about the kids who need school for food or because it is a respite from poor home life (kids left home alone, abusive adults, lack of air/heat, etc). A day means a lot to them, rural or not.
