Kathy Hochul does this thing where she separates "working New Yorkers, hard working New Yorkers" from people who take the train. As if those people are not workers.

Absolutely crazy Nats-O’s game last night. But the best part was Dad was absolutely beside himself using a @bikeshare e-bike (first time!!) to lazily get home last night from Nats Stadium. Astounded at Penn Ave center lanes and 15th street, especially. Beautiful weather.

Looking at this map, seems clear that making the Mall-adjacent streets car free (school/tour buses excluded) would be crazy beneficial, safe and frankly awesome. Look at the mobility use already happening.

Anyone know what street that is in NW, the long straight purple diagonal running downtown? It could be a great arterial with protected micro mobility lanes, sure seems like a great candidate! #BikeDC

Martin is concerned about this and he lives in Switzerland. Will someone in power who lives in DC care as much as Martin? Unclear.

This driver/car got *29* traffic camera tickets, mostly for speeding, between mid-April and the end of May, with four speeding tickets alone on May 1, two of which were for 25 mph over the speed limit, and *seven* tickets on May 5. All told, 173 unpaid tickets. This is wild.

🧵 One of the biggest issues IMO with dangerous drivers in DC is illegal window tints—can’t see drivers, drivers hiding guns, general disregard of licensure that portends more dangerous behaviors, etc. Going to guess at least half of cars I see in DC have illegal tints.

Speed cameras are not sentient. If they “make money” that means that a particular location has dangerous driving and deserves reconstructing to make it less safe.

Starting next month a law was supposed to kick in, banning drivers in D.C. from turning right at any red light. Now D.C. leaders said they can't enforce it.

DC is a much richer city if 395 and 295 are ripped up.

chicago, ny, boston, seattle, and sf are richer than every region in europe except munich but the cities are universally shittier because all the money is funneled from the city to highway maintenance and racist exclusionary suburbia and segregated suburban public schools.
