Want to know why you might not be getting the job? Have you thought about: - Do you truly understand the needs of the role youβre applying for? - Has your application addressed that? - Do you have enough experience? - Have you addressed that you may not have the specific experience, but you have relatable experiences? - Have you advised the additional skills/ experience your bring and how they are relevant for that job? People complain about applying for 200 jobs with no success. This sucks and I can only imagine how it could be demoralising. But, have you thought about it from the perspective of the company hiring? How closely do you align to the need of that job? Unfortunately, most jobs ask for experience. If you are yet to gain that experience, how else could you add value? A friend of mine landed his first job as a pentester with the title Senior Consultant. How? He was able to demonstrate his customer facing, customer engagement and relationship building skills. This was a problem the company had and he was able to address that. Think about the problems you can solve.

The CFP closes for @BSidesCbr closes in one month. And the Career Village is looking for industry professionals to share their knowledge, experience and advice. Talks can be aimed at people breaking into the industry to experienced people looking to progress in their career. Ideas for talks: π Breaking down what you do in your job. π Share your unusual journey into the industry. (help inspire others) π Hiring managers giving advice on what you look out when hiring. π CISO sharing advice for aspiring CISOs. I am looking for people to join in on some panel sessions: π Certifications π Neurodiversity in cybersecurity π Student to cybersecurity professional If you have ideas, but are unsure, reach out to me to chat further! Even if you donβt have ideas, but want to help, reach out and we can walk through some options. We will also be looking for volunteers to do resume review/ mock interviews.
