Our Roads Policing Unit (RPU) officers joined partners including National Highways, the DVSA and Cumbria Fire and Rescue in a tyre safety event today (15 Oct) at Tebay Services.

We’ve already made two more arrests today for drink and drug driving.
We arrested a 19-year-old in Maryport shortly after midnight after he failed a drugs wipe.
And we arrested a 27-year-old after he failed a breath test in Lillyhall, West Cumbria.

This vehicle was initially stopped for having no tax. It turns out the driver had "borrowed" this car from her friend and had no insurance covering her to drive. The vehicle has been uplifted and the driver reported. Insp2378 / CI822

We undertook a road safety op on Bank Holiday Monday - 43 vehicles stopped and arrests made for drink and drug driving.
The op was held in collaboration with Highways England and other northern police forces, aimed at reducing the number killed or seriously injured on our roads.
