Today’s highlight was meeting a squirrel who wanted to cross the canal using the lock gates I was about to open.
He hopped up onto the far gate and stared at me, meaningfully. I backed away gently and he scampered across, nodded his thanks and disappeared into the undergrowth.

This prompts deep guilt about my maintenance “to do” list, albeit not enough guilt to make me do anything about it.

The new cratch board and cover I had fitted last year is proving to be a right little sun trap; it's warmer in there (18C) than it is in the saloon where the stove is! (17C)

I cannot describe the overwhelming joy from having a new shed and, crucially, having installed some solid shelves to take everything instead of it just being piled up. I've even got a little workbench area, and a spot for the lawnmower.
