It's insane to think "I just worked harder and therefore I'm rich".
Ignorance at best, arrogance at worst.
There's millions of people in the UK who work harder than her and are struggling financially. And again, to say that during a pandemic with allot of economic hits.
Mad

Him: "I did that dance"
Logan: "Oh, so you got what it takes?"
Him: "I don't..."

Can't lie, this is one of the worst job interviews of all time😂
🧵Thread; I see a lot of confusion regarding why this therapist was fired.
Here are some considerations - including the APA's Code of Ethics which she was professionally responsible for adhering.
The emphasis on black men and their penises is a part of the dehumanisation of black men which leaves black boys especially open to all sorts of abuse.
(I wish I could say these images were fakes / plants but I've seen one or two white people I know post similar messages.)
It is crucial people realise this was less of an attack on her and more of an act to protect therapeutic clients, prospective clients & the wider prospective individuals who may engage with therapeutic services from any provider, particular black men & boys.
Secondly, we can't afford more individuals to make the therapy space antagonistic and discriminatory to black men and boys.
Mental Health matters aren't a trendy topic for social media engagement; it is lives & potentially fatal outcomes for many. Care should be applied.
The APA sets out a Code of Ethics, for American licensed counselling professionals. Someone who is licensed by them is responsible for managing their practise and behaviour in a way that is reasonably adhering to those ethics & codes.
My personal main issue was two-fold: negative stereotyping of black men & boys in the mental health space has some of the most extreme effects - including black men being the most sectioned population.
As a professional her words are especially harmful in this regard.
She did breached in a few areas. You can find the full document here:
The main area where a number of her videos were found to be in breach - was the basis of discrimination.
My final point; she is not representative of the mental health space - there is definitely issues with anti-black misandry in those spaces.
However - I think it is inaccurate to stereotype black women therapists or therapists in general by this. A large number spoke out.
Clients & society needs to trust healthcare systems; how therapist & medical professional conduct themselves. Where a history & current position of medical discrimination exists - we must be especially careful to not further marginalise those communities (i.e. black men & boys).
Both the licensing board & her employer have obligations and responsibilities which extend to the communities they serve and the profession they are invested to uphold

The reasonable implication is that if it's not about the topic then it shouldn't be spoken about here
However when people talk about other ways men are trash, which is throughout this thread, there's no "that's not what this is about" energy So it's really about trashing men.
To equate being fetishised as some kind of privilege? Is actual madness.
There is a direct link between fetishisation and sexual abuse risk. It informs how young black boys are viewed as older and hypersexualised from early.
Black men don't have to agree with negative stereotypes and generalisations about them. It's wild to me that, that is seen as controversial in some ways.
People talk about dark skin black mens experience of colourism, like they've actually sat with DSBM and had heart to heart discussions on it.
It's the peak of ignorance, to confidently say "dark skin black men are flying" implying, their skin tone is serving to elevate them.
When people say, Black Men Don't Talk About X", it's more likely black men don't talk about it with you.
Many black men have identified good and bad spaces for conversations, and most of our personal, vulnerable experiences are not safe in public spaces.

It is insensitive. You're talking about rape victims here, no mass social powers based on race and class.
These are actual people, with names, histories and experiences. Male victims are often marginalised and mocked in society.
Yes, it is insensitive.

I think the sexuality is important because it builds a profile of the victims. Likely part of his sexual deviant behaviour was some kind of domination over heterosexual men.
Also, the assumption for many (inc. myself) is he would target the gay night scene but not so.

So that's a no. A life coach to some at best.
The responsibilities of a therapist and a YouTuber are quite wide apart.
He wasn't under particular obligations or accountable to a governing body, or, even have a responsibility to act in the best interests of others.
The only time I hear of race or skin tone being fetishised as a privilege is with black men.
Any other time, it's seen for what it is. However, it's so at odd with some people's world views that the thought of black males being victimised in more complex ways is a myth.

Don't do that, if every time a woman tries to say something to potentially help with mens issues she's called a pick me, we will get very little ground work.
It's so valuable / reassuring to know there are women who are at least trying to grapple with these things.
I wrote a blog on the ignoring of the black males experience on colourism, which explores the various ways black men are impacted by colourism which aren't Dating, Media & Attraction, which is where the colourism conversation often centers.

What should we say? So often it gets thrown back in our faces when we do, then we keep quiet and that also is thrown in our faces.
Some of us do speak and some of us don't. Generally, it ain't BM who are watching her show, it's very peripheral

How are we reaching this conclusion that they are more homophobic or misogynistic than the general population?
It's easier to negatively stereotype certain groups with particular narratives but that doesn't make those stereotypes or narratives accurate.
The issue is with black excellence is it leaves black average (the vast majority) behind.
We see this time and time again, then it also shits on them. It consistently becomes elitist.
A black person shouldn't have to be "excellent" to gain basic respect. That's the point.
Her point is that Black ppl as a collective don’t have the privilege to be average IF they want to attain a higher quality of life.
However if you don’t mind living within statistics (for Black ppl) which is currently: $28k/yr, no home ownership, etc then THATS FINE, just own it

That's nonsense though.
Your character dictates how you act, if you treat someone like trash, that's about your character not about whether or not they are the one. You should be able to treat people right, on the basis of who you are as a person and who you aspire to be.
@Ericaadebrah
What's interesting is how many women have effectively said:
"I don't care how you feel - ottle that up, keep quiet and let me enjoy our friendship"
Which I'd say, raises real questions on whether you're truly his friend 🤔

I know one, for him it was because his mother passed from cervical cancer and was initially dismissed heavily by her gynecologist.
He wanted to make a difference.
I used to also think ignorantly about why would you choose that specialisation.
I'll never forget... Back when I was at Hillsong London, there was a popular, young, handsome pastor who many had hoped to marry.
One Sunday, he announced his engagement in service...there was an audible sigh and groan from the masses 😂
Russell Wilson will just be minding his business, at home, loving his family. Then out of nowhere, yet again, someone goes viral again for calling him corny.

If a little girl said "eww, that's for boys".
I'd think it was extreme for a parent to say their little girl is a little misandrist.
Black people shouldn't be using extremely anti-black terms on other black people.
Mammy, bedwench, bullet bag, monkey, etc.
Nothing justifies anti-black slurs.
@yarrumhm
Trash take, men are allowed to be terrified.
You're saying this like, if it was 9 men who got selected, they'd all band together. There's no evidence for that.
Men are human too and like humans we get scared.
I made a typo and said APA as opposed to ACA, all the information cited is from the ACA. It's literally just a typo.
I am in the habit of referencing the APA in general.

I first saw it become popularised in the last year, someone did a long thread exposing all these Instagram people. I believe that person also coined the term.
Personally, I think the argument is on the weak end and often I see it more as bullying when people call it out.

Apparently backstory is guy tried to kill himself by drowning himself in the bath with electricals, left all the taps on or something. Pipe burst flooding the whole place, thankfully he was unsuccessful in his suicide attempt and hopefully he gets whatever help he needs.
I've been following the talk around LA voting and black men.
It's interesting how there is a salient assumption that black men aren't intelligent enough to make up their own minds and vote based on a reasonable assessment of the landscape.
The article on Black men in LA not voting for Karen Bass, the Ice Cube, & now Uncle Luke & other hoteps becoming more vocal, shows what’s part of a concerted effort by wyt supremacists to use Black men to vote against their own interest & that of their communities. All by design.
@harriet_wrightx
It's bad but, no need to escalate this to about men. It's about these individuals.
You see how some women talk about short men? Or men who aren't rich? Or shy men?
People can be trash across every spectrum of existence.

I'll jump in, black fishing is a trend of white (typically women) tanning and styling their hair is (typically) black styles, also adopting (typically) black fashion.
Its still controversial, mostly because it's not usually about celebs but regular people
@JoeyTheRedKRoo1
You're spot on; it's become known you can kick black men and face no backlash and if you face any it'll be minimal.
So much so, there's other communities talking down on black men on the basis of these kind of attitudes

Bro, ima hope you didn't get the full context of this.
The conversation is between rape behaviour and non-rape behaviour and you just called someone agreeing with non-rape behaviour a "simp".
