Today is my birthday! To celebrate, we're experimenting with increasing the Realms render distance to 12 chunks 🤩 All Bedrock Realms now have the new render distance, and we're planning on increasing Java Realms next week.
Let me know how it performs for you 🤞
Have you ever wanted to convert Minecraft worlds between different versions, such as Java -> Bedrock, or prune worlds down to a smaller size?
Check out Chunker, our world conversion tool:
I always love seeing the new takes on doors and trapdoors whenever there's a new wood set.
These doors, in particular, are going to go great with some of my builds 😃
Camels, hanging signs, chiseled bookshelves, and the bamboo woodset are coming tomorrow in a Java Snapshot and Bedrock Preview/Beta!
Different features will be on different versions of the game, and we'd love to hear your feedback 😀
Going forward, the new plan for Java Edition is to have multiple minor versions throughout the year, including new content and improvements when they're ready. This way, you don't have to wait for the next big, major version update 🙂
Absolutely stunning collaboration and effort on the part of the Minecraft community has found the original seed for pack.png!
Alpha 1.2.2
Seed: 3257840388504953787 Coordinates: x=49, z=0
Set the seed in Beta 1.3, then copy the level.dat over a 1.2.2 world and delete chunk files

We've increased the simulation distance for Bedrock Realms to 10 chunks! After some testing, performance seemed good, so we've rolled it out to everyone, enabling better farms and more exciting gameplay. Please let me know if you experience any issues.
Coming to Realms in 1.17:
Better Realms invitation player experience! I still remember the first time I got a Bedrock Realm invitation, and I struggled to find the tiny envelope icon. It'll be quite obvious now that someone is inviting you to play on their Realm😁
Eight new wolf variations are coming today to the Bedrock Preview/Beta and Java Snapshot! You'll need to explore through many biomes to find them all 😁
Prowl has some good clarifying info from a Minecraft spokesperson:
"...the team will also be working on larger updates that will release less frequently than standard game drops. We're hoping this new, more flexible strategy will let us be even more creative going forward"
The 1.21 Trial Chambers are coming Soon™ to Snapshots and Previews/Betas!

Interesting news here about future Minecraft updates:
Multiple game drops throughout the year instead of one big summer update.
Minecraft Live is going to be two broadcasts a year with no more mob vote.

Today's Bedrock Beta has tons of Caves & Cliffs content no longer requiring the experimental toggle, but the most visible change may be that new loading screen 😎
The Realms are Realmier than before!
Today we've enabled Server Authoritative Block Breaking for all Bedrock Realms! If you've ever had a problem with blocks reappearing while mining with an unbreaking-enchanted tool, it should be better now.
Let me know how it works for you 😁

The changelog is ribbiting:
I first fell in love with Minecraft when I started a server for my friends and we had a group chat sharing pictures, jokes, pranks, and adventures.
In today's Preview/Beta, you can get a first look at Realms Stories, our project to bring that magical experience into Realms!
Several of you successfully guessed: in the Nether Update, you'll be able to kick and ban people from in-game! Banning is just for Realm owners, but anyone with Operator permissions will be able to kick in any type of game, including LAN games and self-hosted dedicated servers😁
We've been working really hard to make uploading worlds to Realms more reliable. It's been a long, complicated challenge, and there's more work to do, particularly around behavior packs, but boy does it feel good to upload a 240MB world on console with zero errors 😁
Let's Go!
The secret of the mysterious cave is out!
If you own a Realm of any size, you now have three world slots you can switch between. Your third slot automatically starts with the new Realms Celebration Map - perfect for Minecraft birthday parties or other events with friends!
Today is a big day for Realms!
Starting in today's Snapshot, Preview, and Beta, Realms owners will be able to create an additional FREE Realm to try out the latest features and bug fixes in multiplayer 🤩
A new 1.20 feature appears! Armor trims offer an exciting new way to customize your look in today's Java Snapshot. 11 different patterns, 10 different colors, new smithing templates for the smithing table... lots of new possibilities!
Years before joining Mojang, my first Realms experience was frustration that I couldn't enable "Show Coordinates" from the Settings.
Coming in 1.18.10, you'll be able to change World Options for a Realm without re-uploading the world!
Just watch out for those spider jockeys...
The mace is smashing its way into testing!
🔨 Use smash attack while falling for a knockback effect
🔨 The longer you fall, the harder you hit
🔨 Fall damage is only negated if you land the hit
🔨 Crafted by combining a breeze rod with the heavy core (found in the trial
The mob vote winner is here in today's Bedrock Beta and Preview! Allays love music and could be quite a good friend if you rescue them from Woodland Mansions and Pillager Outposts 😁
The Allay is making an Experimental appearance in today's Minecraft Bedrock Edition Beta & Preview, along with some other changes you can read about here:
Send us your thoughts and feedback on the Allay here:
The Realms team has a holiday present for you! We've now increased the max render distance for all Bedrock Realms from 12 chunks to 20 chunks 🤩
If your device isn't ready to see that many blocks at once, you can turn down your own render distance in your graphics settings.
We have a new treat for Bedrock and Java Realm owners 😁 You can now manage several of the settings of your Realms directly on !
Edit members of the Realm, change the active world slot, and more, all without launching the game!
I'm thrilled to share that all Java Realms are now on a 12 chunk render distance!
Both Java and Bedrock Realms have increased from a 10 chunk render distance to 12 chunks over the last couple days, allowing you to see things farther away on your worlds.
Happy adventuring!
Coming to Realms in 1.18:

So I see a lot of people saying they'd want old animations updated because of the newer keyframe animations from Frog and Warden. But here's a genuine question:
Would people really want to get rid of the classic "swinging side to side" of player/humanoid legs/arms, for example?
With 1.17.10 out today for Bedrock, you can now try the Caves & Cliffs mountain generation beta on your Bedrock Realm! Make a local world with the "Caves and Cliffs" experiment enabled, then click "Play on Realm". Give it a try on slot 2 and help us get Realms ready for 1.18 🙂
The first mob vote candidate is... the crab!
If you make a trip to the mangrove swamp, you can get its claw, which allows you to place blocks further away than normal 😮 Both adorable and useful!
I was outside the door, eating lunch with my wife at the Mandalay Bay as I wondered what things were like inside. She isn't into Minecraft, so I didn't make it a part of our vacation, but fast forward 10 years and our house is full of Minecraft paraphernalia 😂
