I have seen a few people criticize armor trims due to many combinations being ugly. To me, this is very Minecrafty. You can build very ugly houses made out of dirt or diorite, but we don't prevent people from doing it. Banner patterns are the same and better for it.

imo "this new feature in Minecraft looks like a mod" pretty much means nothing at this point. It's become more common feedback in recent years but I don't remember anyone saying it when the Ender Dragon came out, which to me is the most modded-looking feature in the game.

I was recently looking at how many blocks we're adding in Part 1 alone of Caves & Cliffs. I think people are sleeping on how much new content is added just in the first part. Even excluding the waxed states of Copper, we're adding more blocks than the Nether Update!

There are many changes to the ordering of tabs and their contents in this newest snapshots. Many will look at the order of the tabs itself, but the nicest change to me is the new Search Tab content ordering. Here's a comparison image, Infested blocks are no longer at the top!

Here's the reality of Minecraft game development: mobs take a huge amount of time to develop, and all of the mob vote candidates are concepts, not finished production code. Mobs easily take the most development time out of every feature type.

In the latest snapshot, status effect particle colors are no longer blended into one particle color. Instead, each one emits a particle of their own effect color. This allows you to remember the colors and see what effects mobs/players have. What do you think?

i have a fan theory that all minecraft blocks have gravity, but blocks other than sand, gravel, etc just fall at such an unimagineably slow rate that you can only see the effects of gravity on them after thousands of centuries. That's why some terrain still seems to show it.

Always remember for the people who say "Mojang has X amount of employees why does Y take so long", a much smaller percentage of that employee count is working directly on development of vanilla updates. We have large teams on games like Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Legends.

Allays are not item duplicators, they pick up items nearby on the floor that are the same item it has been given. So you could give it a dirt block, then it will find dirt blocks that are dropped, collect them, then return and drop them to you or a note block you've set up.

For data pack authors out there, we added a new `encapsulate` terrain adaption type which actually surrounds all pieces in a structure with terrain. Here is a Trial Chambers that I generated in the air for testing as an example. You can see what it used to look like on the right

The Wild Update for many was not wild enough, and if we had known that we would spend more time to refine the Ancient Cities as a result of player feedback, we probably wouldn't have named it that. Now we have a good chance to name it something fitting for the content inside.

I think people are sleeping on Swift Sneak a little bit. A lot of players mentioning it's only useful in the Deep Dark, but I'd argue it's very useful outside of that biome just for fast bridging, any sort of building project, or crawl mining super fast.

When it comes to "cheesing" the Warden with, for example, pillaring a few blocks up, I've made a conscious decision to find design solutions for that without making them break blocks. I think the obvious solution is always destruction, but I think we can make the Warden smarter.

With the latest Java snapshot, jukebox songs are now completely data-driven. This is done through an item component where you can make any item play a song in a Jukebox, and you can also add your own unique songs to your data packs. Really happy I got a chance to work on this <3
