Last night a tragedy happened during our varsity basketball game. An official who was from the area and had been ingrained in the community, collapsed on the court.
We received word this morning of his passing.
All thoughts and prayers go to his wife and loved ones.

What Ken doesn’t realize… those first round playoff games aren’t for him. The kids that make the playoffs in those last spots are the ones that it matters for and believe me IT DOES MATTER TO THEM TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.

Adults always try to find a way to make youth and high school sports about themselves. THEIR FEELINGS about issues. WHAT THEY WANT.
Coming from a school that doesn't consistently make the playoffs in football, it means something to the kids regardless of the first round game.
I've seen this discussion online and had it offline this week. Adults complaining about 3-6 football teams making the playoffs.

Do I see a reason for the "BASKETBALL NEEDS TO HAVE THE SHOT CLOCK" reactions? Not at all.
I've seen stalling affect maybe 1-2 of the thousands of games I've watched/coached/officiated.
