I sat down to watch Apes and the second it started, the woman in front of me started scrolling through her social media. These people are ruining the theater experience for us weirdos who actually watch the movie we paid to see. Until theaters enforce the rules, they’ll decline.
I truly cherish the theatrical experience but it’s exceedingly difficult to make a case for it lately, even as someone who goes multiple times a week, due to how disrespectful audiences constantly are and how subpar presentation has become — Hollywood isn’t to blame, people are.
