A1: 2 of the drills that helped us the most this year was our hand strike drill we use in the off season. (Great for violent hands) The 2nd drill we use, I stole from some Wing-T gurus. Running on the sled ensures our guys bring the funk and RBโs donโt bounce it. #HogFbChat

What they donโt tell you when rebuilding a program is that year 2 is always harder than year 1. Thatโs because youโve raised the expectations of the investors (parents, players, community). However, thereโs still a significant gap between where you are and where you want to be.

Aka. you have to be able to train your brain to process information on 22 players within 5 to 15 seconds (depending on tempo) to arrive at a solution to put your kids in the best position to be successful. A skill that is a lot easier said than done, and takes years to master.
So you want to call plays? You have 40 sec. to assess the defense, sub in the right personnel, formation your kids into an advantage, communicate the play to signalers, signalers to get the call to players, players to process the call & run the play. You have 40 sec. Ready. GO!

Today we were able to work on our QBs cognitive development by simulating the QBโs fast process (post snap decisions) via @patrick_taylor4โs tennis ball drill. As you might be aware, you canโt teach decision making by looking at a chalkboard. QBโs have to be in the fire. #AirRaid

One of the problems we have with todayโs youth is they wonโt invest in themselves (Grades, Eating, Sleeping, Weightroom) and then get pissed when no one (college coaches) else will. If it were easy; everyone would do it, everyone would get offers, but thatโs not how this works.

We did grade checks yesterday and out of 100 kids only 25 did not have a D or F. This is a small sample size of how virtual learning is going. 75% of our kids are scoring at least 1 grade level below their current GPA across-the-board. Freshman are struggling the most.

@CoachTatum90 Both. Itโs 1 play. If the B gap is occupied by a 3 technique it turns into Tackle Trap. If B gap is open then base the 5 technique with the front side tackle and wrap into the open B gap with the backside tackle. Itโs all about what gives the OL the best angles to be successful.

The NCHSAA moves to Phase 2 of its plan to restart sports, allowing use of equipment in summer workouts and gives some detail for its plans for the fall.
