For any teacher, coach, or mentor the most valuable 4 things you can provide to your team are:
1. High Expectations
2. Assurance (they can meet those expectations)
3. Direction (a map to get there)
4. Support (help along the journey)

The BAYLOR family is SPECIAL!!!
So many great people who care about helping our guys grow into the men they were created to be.
Thanks Allen for all you do and for swinging by today!
#builtbyBAYLOR
Thank you Baylor alum ‘91 and 2022 Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Allen Carter, for stopping by and showing our guys why he’s BUILT DIFFERENT. Allen was voted Baylor’s MVP in 1990. He led the Red Raiders to a 26-5 record, and the District 6AAA league championship.

The building blocks of a successful teams are common purpose, energetic communication, and commitment to a singular aim.
When leaders can shape personal agendas to align with a team concept, the team’s potential becomes limitless.
“It is never a question whether we will or will not develop habits and virtues, but what kind of habits and virtues we will develop.”

Coach Shaver is one of the BEST to ever coach, he’s won championships at multiple levels. He’s the all time winningest HC at both Hampden-Sydney and William & Mary!
Freedom is about finding the right restrictions.
Freedom is about determining which load you’re going to pickup and carry.
Freedom is found in embracing responsibility.
Self-discipline is a form of freedom. Freedom from laziness and lethargy, freedom from expectations, and the demands of others, freedom from weakness and fear - and doubt.

A team is a living organism, it has to be touched every single day.
If you leave it alone it will start to wither and die, it will descend into chaos.
But if you cultivate it and care for it. If you touch it and nourish it, it will start to grow.
A thread on what I've been learning:
(1) There is a psychological pressure to being a black man in America as it relates to professional development and being successful that I’ll never understand
“If you go to Jesus, he may ask of you far more than you originally planned to give, but he can give you infinitely more than you dared ask or think.”

The road to character often involves moments of moral crisis, confrontation, and recovery. When they were in a crucible, they suddenly had a greater ability to see their own nature. The everyday self-deceptions and illusions of self-mastery were shattered.

Want to build something meaningful?
Figure out these three things in order:
1. Your Purpose (The “Why”)
2. Your Principles (The “What”)
3. Your Processes (The “How”)
Been playing around with how to visually communicate some of the concepts I believe in the most.
Still a long way to go, but it's a start.
Thanks to
@jackbutcher
and
@Dante_Cook1
for the inspiration.
Team development follows a basic pattern. There are five stages that every group goes through:
Forming - coming together.
Storming - initial rush of activity.
Norming - group identity.
Performing - problem solving and execution.
Adjourning - wrapping up.
The task of the craftsman is not to generate meaning, but rather to cultivate in himself the skill of discerning the meanings that are already there.
- Hubert Dreyfus
The power of diversity is found in the collaboration, chemistry, and continuity that comes from a group of people who respect, embrace, and work to leverage each other’s differences.
A good word for this morning! 🙏
Patience is love for the long haul; it is bearing up under difficult, without giving up or giving in to bitterness. Patience means working when gratification is delayed. It means taking what life offers with joy.
- Tim Keller
As leaders how do we avoid blindspots?
TRIANGULATION.
Decrease your blindspots by widening your field of vision.
Have the humility to learn from others who see things in different and complementary ways.
Today is Senior Day for
