Been watching this dude since the 9th grade. He’s a player.
This weekend featured some fantastic basketball, but Nate Johnson's (@NateJohnson34) dominant performance at Kent State truly stood out. Johnson, a redshirt junior, embodies Akron Zips basketball with his consistent energy, grit, and hard-nosed attitude. When you watch Nate play, you'd think he'd be 6'6"-6'7" because he's such a force, but no, that's just his strength and EFFORT. He attacks the basket with powerful drives, possesses a silky smooth mid-range j, and excels at turning defense into offense. It's thrilling to watch Nate explode down the lane, overpowering defenders to finish with layups or soaring through the air for emphatic dunks. Great defender, leads by example, and when you need points, Nate can create for himself. Players like Nate Johnson are what makes college hoops so exciting. Snubbed from the All-MAC preseason teams, he's a major reason why Akron is currently atop the conference. This makes more sense than anything else I’ve seen.
I have heard every Luka story you could hear. I heard the 270 stories. I’ve heard they had to find new jerseys the day of for Luka due to weight. I’ve heard rumours about drinking being an issue forever. They still built a finals team around him and the chemistry between him and Kyrie was obvious. The only logical reality here is that Luka wanted out and only wanted the Lakers and that Dallas abided before it could become a shit storm.

If (and that’s a big “if”) Luka asked to be traded, how fair of a trade is it to land AD? Could Mavs have gotten anyone better in that deal (not better fit but a better overall player)?

If the NBA adopts a 5v5 with 2 basketballs model, then lakers should be damn good. Assuming that doesn’t happen, I’ve got serious questions. Two pure alphas on one team could lead to some historical emotional blowups come playoff time.

Remember watching Moeller play St. X in the State Championship game.
Mind-boggling fact: Each team in the GCL South won a D1 state title in an 8-season period. Elder (1993) LaSalle (1996) Moeller (1999) St. Xavier (2000) Moeller won again in 2003, 2007, 2018, & 2019. Moe’ was 1 of 8 teams left in 2020. LaSalle in 2011.
