I dream of a day when all D1 and D2 softball programs are fully funded, every coach on staff has benefits, and every school pays their female coaches what they are worth at every level.

If your stats for the day are good but your team loses, be a good teammate. Be humble and put team first.
If your stats are bad but your team wins, be a good teammate. Be humble and happy, put the team first.
Let’s keep teaching the importance of team first mentality. ✨
To the athletes who are able to play in your finals/headed to regionals,go to a teammate who is injured,& tell them how thankful you are for their dedication.
There are athletes on every team who cant physically contribute rn, but are doing all they can to be a great teammate.✊🏽
The sooner we teach athletes to be great teammates whether they play or not,
The better they will be prepared for college sports, if they choose to play, AND life.
When you’re a part of a team and you give your very best, you will learn life skills that will be greater than PT.
Athletes playing summer ball,
You’re playing A LOT.
Be sure you’re resting and training.
Don’t push the panic button when you go 0-13 on a weekend.
Evaluate what seeds you planted, is there growth?
What’s your approach?
How are your routines?

I observed parents and athletes at two great exposure events this last week and here are a few tips to the young women seeking to do the little things better in a camp or recruiting tournament.
These things will be seen by your coach, your opponent, the umpire, and college
At a tournament, watching softball, hey recruits whether you’re average or above average speed….RUN IT OUT. EVERY TIME. Your hustle and effort matters and while you may not get a base hit how you play the game always matters.
If you’re a 2024, and haven’t committed yet…
DO.
NOT.
WORRY.
Take your time.
Own your craft, mindset and recruiting process.
Be active in all of it.
Trust it’s going to work out, exactly as it should.
Keep growing. 🌱
2021, 2022, and 2023’s: Recruiting looks different, feels different... the world is changing. Stay the course. Be patient. Some of the BEST athletes our game has ever seen were recruited later in high school. They played less games for travel and HS,they played other sports, &..
Summer softball is winding down.
College athletes are leaving for school soon.
High school athletes start back next week in many areas.
No matter when you go back to school and softball, it’s time to create a schedule that involves more than class and softball games.

Recruits: don’t Chase the scholarship.
↪️Chase the PLACE & PEOPLE. The fit for you means you can achieve what you want in a place you want to live for 4+ years w people you want to live with and become your support system. Many times recruits that start at 0.00 end w 💲.
Female athletes in college and high school deserve AD’s who:
1. Make their sport a priority
2. Communicate with their coaches and share plans and priorities
3. Want to help their teams get the support they need
4. Care about their people>their agenda
5. Hire leaders quickly
Seen some interesting threads on athletes wearing CROCS post game,
let’s slow down.
Sure everyone is entitled to their opinion & Twitter loves this.
Come on, we are going to critique kids for taking their spikes off too soon?
Here’s a few reasons I agree w spikes off postgame:
The mental health crisis is impacting our youth.
Sports can make it worse.
If you’re a parent of a female athlete this summer, here are a few reminders:
1. Females struggle more than males do with confidence, choose your words wisely.
2. Never put your daughter or her
You know what’s cool? 😎
Being a good teammate, no matter what.
Put the program, the team, your coaches and your teammates above yourself.
How can you help lift a teammate up tomorrow?
Encourage someone that may be down?
Stay positive even when you’re not in the line up?
I don’t post a lot of photos of myself on Twitter, just 2 years ago today I was fighting cancer.

Special thanks today to the Lord. ✝️
If you have thyroid problems or are suffering from an autoimmune disorder, fight on! It is tough. 💟
Hey Softball PSA’s and parents: don’t tweet about your texts, emails, visits, offers or calls. Work hard in silence and when you’re sure you have found the right place the good news of your commitment can be celebrated! We as a sport can set an example. 🥎😄
Less scholarship money, bigger rosters, less camps, less travel, less opportunities to interact w future college coaches...Sooooooo:
1. Get fit and stronger
2. Save travel ball money for college
3. Find a school where you know you will keep growing
4. Keep developing your skills
PSA:
If you’re a prospective student athlete in softball and you want to play college softball:

My goal is to create a list of counselors in every state that want to do Telehealth/Counseling appointments for youth in your state.

Let’s spread this message & help get information to our youth.✨
Recruits:failure is a part of your process.
The question is do you let it be a tool to your growth?
What does your face and body language say when you can’t get the job done?
What do you show your team when you make a mistake or are performing poorly?
Make resilience your asset!
Did you know at some Universities the Chancellor & the AD care about Softball, come to practices, show the student athletes they care, communicate with them, and support them in many ways? They do more than attend a game. They are consistent. They are reliable. 🥎

Playing w people more talented than you makes you better. Beat them w your fitness, mindset, motivation, strength, kindness, or something else. Learn from them. Work with them. Then be ready when the team needs you to step up!

Dear Recruits we can’t write back or can’t watch play right now:
➡️Thank you for your videos

It will work out.

Person >Playing time & Performance.
Whether you played, performed well or poorly this weekend, your character matters most.
Don’t let a teammate,a parent or a significant other ever let you believe your worth is found in how much you played or how well you performed.
You matter.
To The Class is 2022: we know Sep 1 is coming soon. Thank you for your emails, videos, phone numbers,& dms. Thank you for your GPA, SAT,& ACT scores!Thank you for your transcripts. If you don’t hear from a school you like, after the first week email them again! Stay patient. 🤓🥎
What if every time you take the field, from start to finish, you then reflect and you ask yourself the following things:
🧐
1. Was I a great teammate?
2. Do I have any regrets or think my effort was my best?
3. If someone watched my entire practice or game would they be inspired?
Great teammates love each other. They don’t just say it,they do it. Here are a few ways to show a teammate you 🧡them this season:
1. Encourage and uplift them
2. Give them credit for your success
3. Give your best to them whether you are playing or not OR feeling well or not
Hey recruits! Be sure you send your summer schedule with your jersey number and grad year along with what camps you’re attending at UNCW to me every time you play. The summer recruiting schedule preparation is here, and you are your best recruiting tool! EMAIL regularly! 💻📱
We recruit great people and great athletes. We want to develop both. We respect both. Can’t wait to talk to Pitchers, Hitters, Slappers, & position players to begin to see who else will be a future Seahawk. The process starts tomorrow, it doesn’t end tomorrow. I am excited!

Athletes,
Thank your parents for the time and sacrifice they made for you this summer. Whether taking you to games or camps, be sure you tell them thank you.
Then tell your coach you appreciate all she or he has done for you as this season of softball comes to an end.
Athletes everywhere sit the bench for years before it’s their time to shine. The ones that kept developing, didn’t complain, were a great teammate and a coaches dream are ready when it’s their moment. Love reading stories of these examples. COVID has and will do the same thing.
Pitchers, get practice going 5-7 innings in travel ball.
Responding to a bad inning.
Adjusting as the umpire squeezes/alters the zone.
Altering your plan of attack as offense hits you.
Leading when your defense makes an error.
Pitchers,Look for ways you can keep learning!
It was on this day, 365 days ago, I knew I was cancer free. Today marks 1 YEAR WITH NO CANCER.
To every cancer patient out there who is still fighting, to all those who worry about cancer coming back, and to all of us that have lost a loved one to cancer...
All athletes ❤️the GAME. Special ones can: handle the responsibility, the schedule, the grind, the sacrifice of social events, the early mornings workouts, the late nights of homework, the loss of family/friend time, & the time spent working on their craft.

HS Athletes going to watch college games. If you’re interested in that school….email the coaches. Share w them what you learned. Show them how invested you are. What your 🥎 IQ is. Be different.
Never confuse who you are with what you do. Your identity is not in sport, job, or achievements. Those things are a part of who you are, they are not ALL of who you are. They will never be ALL that you are.
Softball people:
Stay humble.
Stay hungry.
You don’t need to post what you do every minute. You don’t need to demonstrate all the good stuff.
🤩
Be dedicated to growing.
The rest will take care of itself.
‼️Stay clear of those who act like they know if all & are just about self.
Your role today may be to work so hard you make the people in front of you better.
Your role tomorrow may be to be the team hype man.
Your role the next day may be to pinch hit or pinch run.
Your role next month when someone gets injured or isn’t performing, may be to step up and

Hey Softball athletes:
Is all your extra work just to help you get better?
Reach out to a teammate today to help them be more fit, stay on track, be ok mentally, pitch better, hitter better, keep their arm in shape… 🤝
If you’re a 2028, and you’re not ranked don’t worry. 😰
2027-2026-2025-2024, don’t worry.
Some rankings are great.
Some rankings are 🗑️.
Some greats arent ranked till college.
Keep developing in all areas, and rank your dedication to the details.
Chase greatness not rankings.
Does anyone ever wonder what would happen if young people were taught to play the game bc they loved it? That’s all.
Not for a scholarship.
Not for the fame.
Not for the trophy.
The character they would develop, no matter their role.
The social skills they would develop,
The facial expressions, body language, and actions of those on the bench show what’s really important to them.
⭐️
If you’re not playing,you’re participating.
Be a great teammate: add value from the sidelines, dugout, or bench.
Team>Me.
You can grow and help no matter what!
To the recruits excited about Sep 1:
☑️ Be sure you’re emailing coaches today and this week after this date occurs.
☑️Take notes before any call w a Coach and be sure you have notes on what division, academic info and league info
☑️Do as much research as you can before the call
Coaches who care about their student athletes, are the kind of coaches we need more of.
Not the ones who are about their ego, the title, or their ability to stay involved in the game for the wrong reasons.
While no coach is perfect, if you know they genuinely care for their
Great teammates don’t just do extra work on their own, they look for ways to help their teammates do the same. They look for ways to help their teammates grow too.
So ladies and gents, if you played your tail off, wear your uniform with class/keep it on and professional until you’re in the car or restroom, and you GAVE 100% on the field…
Feel free to change your shoes, a long day in spikes is hard on the feet. 🦶🏽Start your recovery! 👍🏾😎

7️⃣ Ways to stand out in a camp setting:
1. Make great eye contact 👀
2. Communicate with the student athlete and coach at your station
3. Dress the part 💁🏽♀️
4. Hustle/ outwork everyone 💪🏾
5. Be present, active listening, & be 🔒 in
6. Perform well 🥎
7. 😀 & show passion!
Pitchers:
Speed matters.
Spin matters.
Spot matters.
Measure all 3, not just 1. Being able to get more break, hit your spots, & build speed are all important.
Your mechanics & your mindset will pave the way for you to improve in all 3, don’t just focus on 1.
Grow them all.
My cancer journey happened at a crazy time.
As I celebrate being cancer free & I reflect on Gods provision, I am reminded of so many people that cancer has or is still wrecking havoc w today.
Disease is cruel & makes no sense.

Some athletic directors say they care. They say they care about students and coaches.
Some watch practice, address student athletes, write hand written notes, attend team meetings, communicate regularly with coaches, and are present.
Some are never present, rarely meet with
You will be lied about.
You will be doubted.
You will be talked about.
You will be hurt by those you trust, work hard for,& care for.
Keep going.
Don’t lie down.
Don’t give up.
Let it go.
Fight.
Be kind & honest.
And keep doing something that helps others & believe!
Recruits: How you talk to your teammates and about your teammates matters. If they are causing harm to your team, confront them. If it’s anything else, show them respect.
Your words and attitude towards your parents matters too.
Your character and your softball skills matter.
I love seeing an athlete make great gains in the fall/winter months and use the holiday break to: maintain what they have built, get in even better shape, and develop a plan to be ready for the spring season at their very best!
If you’re an athlete, don’t play because your chasing a scholarship.
Chase development: mental, physical and emotional.
Chase excellence! ✊🏽
If you still love it and want to play at the next level, your development and commitment to growth will allot many opportunities.
Show up to your high school team, travel ball team or college team in:
1.Better shape than you were least season, year or when you committed
2.Physical shape where you’re not injured from playing so much
3. Better overall shape where you’re better
TRAINING IS IMPORTANT.

I wish social media could be used as a platform to learn, encourage, praise others and share information NOT as a platform to argue, validate ones worth, or determine one’s ability to be effective in their role- whatever they do.

If the game is 90% mental, be an athlete who looks for opportunities to grow your mindset.
Your mental approach to the game will either free your or paralyze you.
What are you doing to grow mentally?
Every time you finish a camp, do you reflect? Write notes down?
Things you learned and ways you want to grow….
Do it.
Then Try it, after your games.
Create a softball journal. Whether it’s in your phone or a pen and paper.
Own your game. Own your development. 🧠🤩
Hot take:🎬
Athletes that perform great but their team loses, should stay focused on team.
Athletes that perform poor but their team wins, should stay focused on team.
Of course you want to contribute, but your team is ALWAYS more important than:Your stats
Be a great teammate.
...they trained. Keep working. Read books, send hitting videos/pitching videos/skill videos, tell coaches how you’re growing. Stay positive. How many tournaments you play and coaches see right now isn’t as important. KEEP DEVELOPING. STAY PASSIONATE. 🔥🔥

Why bat girls in the dugout at the college level matter?
1. They get to experience a game up close and personal
2. They get to see how young women act, talk, and play the game they love
3. They get to see a role model and learn their name
4. They inspire college women

3 years ago on this day, I was heading into surgery with cancer.
I knew God had a plan but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared. I was. Not because I didn’t trust in Him, but because I am human and my sister had died 12 days before. Cancer sucks.

To the coaches and conferences that allow Easter to be off, thank you. Many leagues allow it to be up to the coach, and it’s always great to see when coaches take it off. Many times one coach wants to play and one doesn’t. So to those who that allow this, thank you! 😇
The athletes who know how to rise up when their team needs them, despite the last at bat, the pain, or scoreboard.. well that’s the kind of athlete who the team will look to, over and over. They have something special and they know how to be reliable. Be gritty. Be reliable.
