Saddest thing about coaching is watching a kid head in the wrong direction, ignore all the people telling them to change or stop, and then get the results of the work they put in. I’ve seen it too many times, and they always agree they was tripping later.

The Godby football team has a new head coach - as @CoachHolston takes over for Demario Jones, who stepped down last month to take a job in Georgia. Holston was an assistant coach for the Cougars last year and stepped in as the Interim Head Coach when Jones resigned. @WCTV.

Message to all the college athletes… Scout Team is never glamorous, but never avoid competition. Make it your mission to beat the starters so bad that you get pulled off. Not going hard and avoiding reps won’t get you off scout team, it will get you off the WHOLE team!.

I have to constantly tell myself that this year is setting the standard. This team is still learning the mindset I’m demanding to play for this team. Some got it quickly, others getting it over time, and some showed this wasn’t for them already. I won’t lower the standards.

Being a head coach in my home town hits so different because I actually know a lot of the families of the kids that I coach and teach. Literally grew up with their parents. It comes with a different type of responsibility and accountability that I gratefully embrace.
