Most of these kids were incorrectly evaluated by college coaches, pushed out to make room for new recruits, or lied to during the recruiting process.

When you do this, you're not getting a kid an opportunity. You're setting them up to fail.

I’m seeing some good mid-major WBB programs being severely punished for their decision to recruit high school kids, play them early, and commit to their development.
Those kids are transferring up, and leaving the schools that took a chance on them high and dry.

The transfer portal isn’t hurting student-athletes.
The transfer portal is making it harder for student-athletes to hurt themselves by committing to schools that they aren’t capable of playing at.
The transfer portal is much needed market correction.

Texas Southern is doing just fine...they just signed a former McDonald's All-American and they're coached by the legendary Cynthia Cooper. They went 20-10 this year.
Hampton is doing just fine...they beat Alabama and won the Big South this year.

Firstly, there are two NCAA D1 HBCU conferences (the SWAC and the MEAC), as well as two (soon to be three) additional D1 HBCUs that play in other conferences. If you wish to play basketball at an HBCU, you do not have to leave D1.

On the women’s side, the gap between low D1 and high D2 is non existent. If anything, high D2 programs are usually better than most low D1 teams.
There’s a bigger gap between high major/blue blood D1 and low major D1 than there is between low major D1 and high major D2.

The transfer portal gets romanticized like it’s the solution to every student-athlete’s problems.
Unfortunately, a lot of kids are going into the portal and discovering that the grass isn’t greener on the other side. In some cases, they don’t even have grass on the other side.

Solution: Go in the huddle, draw up your own play…then look at them set up like, "Yo, what are they doing? This ain’t the play! These kids don’t listen!"
