Head Baseball Coach at Claflin University (DII Program in The Peach Belt Conference)🐆 Former Division I Baseball Player | JSU Alumni ⚾️🐯|MVSU Graduate Alumni
Not one recruiter will call any coach in the SEC and say, “Hey I have a guy who’s 80-83 that I want you to take a look at.” What makes us any different when we’re competing with those other universities?

THINGS TO WATCH FOR WHEN RECRUITING:
-Leadership
-Failure Response
-Coaching Response
-Parents Response
We don’t go to games to find out if you can play or not. We know that before we show up!
Just a word of ADVICE for recruits. Go to a place where you’re gonna make a difference and have someone that wants to take the time to develop YOU. If you’re worth drafting scouts will notice you wherever you go. Go to a place that’s gonna save you money and give you a chance.
⚠️⚠️⚠️MESSAGE FOR ALL PROSPECTS!!! Don’t let the scenery and view dictate your decision on where you spend the next 4 years. Sometimes those big beautiful areas can be a distraction to your grind..Sometimes the struggle can get you to where you wanna go!
Recruiting Emails are the best part of my day!
“Little Johnny is a excellent student he puts the ball in play 80% of the time and he has soft hands and plays every position on the field.”
60 time: 6.50
Home to first: 4.7

It’s July, I don’t know who needs to hear this but... Sign with that D2, D3, or NAIA!!!
Scouts don’t recruit players by their fall stats! And if they ask you to walk on DO IT! Remember, that coach once had money for you! 🤝🏾
I woke Twitter up with this one! Get out of your feelings. The same coaches offended are the same coaches looking for the same caliber arms that I’m going after. I’m just honest about it!
A few things that can turn coaches away from recruits:
-Social media display
-Over-talkative parents on visit
-Negativity towards former teams
-Parent behavior in the stands while you’re recruiting their kid.
✅Program Culture Change
✅Facility Upgrades
✅Opportunity Right Away
✅Development
Come be a Claflin Panther! 🐾

IN REFERENCE TO MY TWEET THIS MORNING ABOUT THE 4 PILLARS THAT WE LOOK FOR WHEN RECRUITING A KID:
1. Leadership - How the kid leads his team. How vocal is he to his peers? Do he pick his teammates up?
2. Coachable - Does he look coaches in the eye? Does he respond to tough

I can’t remember the last time I played catch with my dad. Thankful for being able to spend time with my family for Thanksgiving…these 10 minutes will be cherished forever.

Remember, that coach that you “Big Leagued” gone be somewhere bigger and better at some point in your life!
You might not get to play for him/her but you might need a JOB!
If you don’t like the life you’re living make changes in your life to better it. If you continue living the same life and expecting things to get better it’ll never happen!
From improved seating to padded outfield walls to dugout fences, there have been some AMAZING improvements made at Historic Mirmow Field! Special thanks to
