One girl pushed my daughter at the start of her soccer game. She gave me a look like “what do I do dad?” I gave her that “finish her” head nod like Mr. Miyagi did in Karate Kid & she activated that ultra Kobe competitive mode & the rest was history. 👊💪😂

Bittersweet day. Kaden has been coming to my camps since he was 4 yrs old. Going into the 8th grade now so this is probably the last camp I get to have him at camp. One of the best things about being a coach is having your kid in the gym with you & I Loved every second of it!

We laid my Grandma Irene Ballard to rest today. For 93 years she lived a good life..Married 72 years to my Grandpa, 5 children, 8 grandchildren & 23 great grandchildren. She was will be dearly missed.

Recent attendance #’s from schools in a Division 1 conference: 315, 731, 744, 820, 946... Average attendance at a Washburn home game is 2,017! Recruits: just because it’s “D1” doesnt mean its any BIGGER or better. Go to the level that is the best FIT for you!!

10 years ago I left KU & took the head coaching job at Baker Univ. Lower level, way less money, bottom feeder in the conference, head coach does it all & did I mention way less money! Almost everyone thought I was crazy; except my wife (1 of 3)

Thankful I had elite youth sports coaches growing up... I mean I’m sure they had their flaws & maybe weren’t even “elite” but I never knew that bcus my parents never talked negatively about a coach (or teacher) I had. They taught me to listen/respect them & for that I’m GRATEFUL!

Dwane was just in our gym on Friday. He was messing with our guys, laughing, joking and bringing a positive vibe like he always did. This one hurts bad. Seneless and we have to do better. My heart goes out to his family & friends. He will be missed.
