Galway City is to pursue turning part of the old Terryland Water Plant into a Water-sports amenity. The plant is at the embarkation point of a proposed new Corrib Blueway and is an ideal location for sports such as kayaking, paddle boarding and other water sport activities.

I'm not sharing the enthusiasm on this decision. As I said from the outset, vehicular traffic should be taken off the current bridge. The bridge is over 200 years old and it cannot facilitate 2 buses passing each other. Missed opportunity.

Part of what this work is aimed to do is create safer access to Gaelscoil Mhic Amhlaigh. The route will allow for safe walking and cycling to school from the estates to the east of the school as well as a pedestrian/cycling route to the Gateway shopping centre.
