Produce the best newsletters - expert advice from FT. Many public-sector orgns still not prioritising this direct to resident & business channel. Improvements suggested include - build author profile (Jane with this week's public health tips), improve subject line, how to measure
We need to talk about open rates: @FT newsletters supremo @sarahjebner shares some of the strategies which have helped grow email subscribers four-fold to 1.6m in last four years

Nottingham City Council's disastrous Robin Hood Energy. There's a business (e.g. management consultant) with proposition 'we set up a still successful business in sector X; we can advise you (as so many councils fail at this)'. Or do local authorities take such advice but ignore?

Yes - and he used it well. I saw him in 'The Invisible Man' in the West End. He was on stage when there was completely unexpected full male nudity. His exclamation of 'surprise' - 'Oh er Missus; that was a shock wasn't it!' or similar was in character with such & fitted the bill.
Some actors capture an aspect of their historical moment. The combover, the knitwear, the wheedling and fussing - Brian Murphy was the absolute exemplar of a certain kind of postwar masculinity - the salaryman born slightly too early for the Permissive Society. RIP.

These endless stories about how Labour will lose so many seats ("to take more seats") at next General Election are all nonsense. It is February 2025. The next General Election needs to be held by August 2029. Who knows what will be the polling strength of parties years hence.

This reported by @NiemanLab doubtless due in UK. Is here small-scale now but national brands with 100s of newsletters, eg Paddington NewsToday, Mayfair NewsToday, can't be far away. The below outlets are better quality & last 2 are curators, not aggregators - but who'll survive?
So want real London news? Best to worst. £pa renewal cost. Access via 1 @_TheLondoner £89 2 @London_Centric £79.50 3 @OnLondon £50 4 @standardnews Free 5 @BBCLondonNews Free 6 @the_londonspy £40 7 @myldn Free Also aggregators (free): The London Buzz (@ianvisits), @TheLondonMinute

So don't rely on this useless map from TimeOut to tell you where you can afford to live. Instead use the Gail's bakery location map so you know if you live where they are, you won't then be able to afford to buy even a doughnut from them.
2 minutes checking would show this is worthless. Barking more expensive than Wanstead? Plaistow pricier than Woodford? Nonsense. Borough station not in the right place. The problem - duff content thoughtlessly copied by outlets like @TimeOutLondon

@RedbridgeLive I tried more cllrs & eventually found one with a notice saying 'please contact via XX'. Which means e.g. none of the Wanstead Park (& several other) cllrs are running surgeries, nor are saying they're not doing such & instead asking people to contact them another way. Why's this?

@RedbridgeLive It doesn't. I selected the cllr by name from that page and then clicked the tab. No ward surgery details are given - as I stated in my original post. I also tried the same for 2 other cllrs - same result.

BBC shouldn't carry a rather convenient video from @metpoliceuk, clearly intended to distract from the kamikaze shoplifting stories, as this doesn't show such - it's not theft to put goods in a bag. I presume the guy was done for previously taking items.
