About to teach a class about the invasion of Poland in 1939. 10 years ago I would be saying things like:
"Poles used cavalry against tanks."
"Poles never stood a chance."
"Poland gave up quickly."

Incredible. That was a brutal battle and the Poles fought admirably.
I am amazed that they were willing to fight on so many distant battlefields, far from their homeland. Their own country was occupied but they were still willing to die to liberate someone else's.

Just had an epic game of Star Wars Rebellion with a good friend.
I was Empire, he was Rebellion. Very close game. He killed Darth Vader, but I won the game by finding the Rebel Base and destroying it with 1 turn to spare.
Absolutely epic and reminds me of why I love this game

Event cards are a common feature in historical games.

So Games Workshop just got back to me. They didn't give me a price, just a flat out no.
They said they are not licensing the category of board games at this point in time.
I'm actually surprised they replied to me at all!
This means I'm going to shelve this project for now.
So I've just emailed Games Workshop asking about licensing rights for 40K. I am a complete nobody though, so I don't expect to get a response anytime soon. Or at all.

It's JRR Tolkien's birthday.
A great occasion to play War of the Ring - one of the best 2 player strategy games ever made and very faithful to the books/films. It's always a nail-biter down to the very last turn. Highly recommended!
