Wow lots of whooper swans arrived @WWTMartinMere through the northern lights last night they must have had an amazing treat as they flew in from Iceland 😍 112 whooper swans on the mere this morning

Popped to look for the wryneck at Rishton Reservoir last night after work got there just before dark and it was feeding away on the track at the back 😍 wow what an amazing bird!! With @elocbirder

New species of fungus @WWTMartinMere - fluted bird's nest fungi 😍 wow it really looks like tiny birds nests with eggs in!! When it rains it splashes into the cups and sends the spores flying!!

So many Southern Marsh Orchids coming out @WWTMartinMere this huge one is next to the Harrier hide 😍 must be over a foot tall and looks like it's going to be a stunning display

First Bufftip of the year in the moth trap @WWTMartinMere this morning 😍 what amazing camouflage!! We open the trap daily at 10:30 pop along and see what we have caught

Boom!! 🙌🤯 We have a Bittern booming in the Reedbed @WWTMartinMere they are here every year but fingers crossed 🤞 we have a lady Bittern this year!! All the hard work from the volunteers and the reserve team over the winter has paid off!! 😁

😍😍😍 Adorable chicks alert 🚨 the first Avocet chicks of the year have hatched and are running around Woodend Marsh @WWTMartinMere we have 30 pairs this year (50% increase on last year) 😮 they are loving the predator fence. The best hide to see them from is the Tomlinson hide

We had our first poplar hawkmoth 😍 of the year in the moth trap @WWTMartinMere we open it daily by the centre at 10:30am it's amazing the colours and variety!!
