I think about this more often lately, and I think there’s a risk of stagnation in some fields. For instance in computer science and software engineering. LLMs may become good enough to replace humans, but they’ll effectively just re-use what humans have created thus far (e.g. algorithms, languages, compilers, libraries…), without being able to take the field forward. Mathematics in general will likely suffer from this too. Now, you can argue humans will still be present in these fields, which is probably true. It’ll be interesting to see how this will play out.

@augustusicxc @ShafronTom @emollick The AI as a tool/extension scenario will hold for a while , but as AI becomes better, the middleman (the wielder of AI) will probably become obsolete. I think it's inevitable that the economy will have to be reshaped, and something akin to UBI be introduced.

@augustusicxc @ShafronTom @emollick What competitive edge do you think you'll have over AGI and robots? It's an honest question. I am thinking often about what's coming, and looking for ways to navigate the world.
