@adribbleofink Went to high school w John Bongiovi (Jon BonJovi now). Sat next to him in frosh English. I had to read a poem I wrote in front of class. As I slinked back to seat, I was rained with chorus of "pu**y", "fa**ott" & other clever insults. He whispered "Neil, I liked your poem.".

@lizoxhorn @SpiroAgnewGhost Hard not to be furious about the resources being mobilized at drop of hat to investigate & treat those caught up in this outbreak, contrast it to our national response & delivery of care and services. And think that many of these are directly responsible for our national tragedy.

@wendellpotter This is among the greatest scare tactics and lies of healthcare "debate" in this country--that reform will limit your choice. Your choices are already being limited! Guess people are comfortable with the insurance industry doing this for them.

Wow. Hopkins fully remote for fall semester. Undergrad campus is compact, self-contained & student body is small. Universal testing was in place for 2x per wk, at place w exceptional on-ground #COVID19 expertise. They don't think they can pull it off.

@nataliexdean Nothing will set views of scientific/medical expertise and countering anti-vax misinformation back more than having a #COVID19 vax that shows bad safety signal w widespread use.

@jmartNYT @GovChristie @alexburnsNYT Your guy @GovChristie. Your administration. You were not complicit, but rather actively engaged in facilitating and fomenting the damage wrought by this administration. You’re culpable.

Absolutely. #COVID19 has and will continue to blow the "we can't afford it" argument completely out of the water. Our incompetent federal response to pandemic combined w inequity in our healthcare delivery & societal economics have been deadly 1-2 punch.

@AOC If believing that all Americans should have access to heat & running water (or healthcare!) makes one a socialist, then we've got to reconsider our political labels. TX energy grid was predicated explicitly on acceptance of potential failures as trade for cost & regulation.

@atrupar I don't see proposed solutions to (almost) any problem. And, as articulated by McConnell (talk to me after the election), it's a deliberate strategy because: a) they don't have solutions; b) what they do have is unpalatable to the majority.

@byDavidGardner @WendyOrent Yeah, not sure their views on women really is a model to follow either. I mean, I’m no legal scholar, but originalism seems to me the most absurd intellectual philosophy I’ve encountered. I’m in medicine. We admire Osler and Oslerian medicine. We don’t practice it.

@allincapital @mcuban MDs question and critique themselves every day. Anyone who has ever presented a case and justified a decision on rounds, at case conferences, grand rounds, morbidity and mortality reports, and clinical pathology conferences knows how rough this is.

@SpiroAgnewGhost There will be tens of millions viewers of the debates. It might be a shock to those who haven’t listened to our leader hold forth recently. Incoherence, dysphonia, and inarticulation abound. It’s jarring to hear, much worse than in text or clips.

@maddow I'm trying to think of something that concerns me less than future employability of people who have served this WH. Nothing comes to mind. Isn't that these people might be unemployable in government a good thing?.

Rand Paul announces that Rand Paul has tested positive for COVID19. Rand Paul will be confining himself solely to company of Rand Paul. Rand Paul sends thoughts & prayers to Rand Paul. Rand Paul remains committed to denying healthcare to 30m+ Americans who are not Rand Paul.
Senator Rand Paul has tested positive for COVID-19. He is feeling fine and is in quarantine. He is asymptomatic and was tested out of an abundance of caution due to his extensive travel and events. He was not aware of any direct contact with any infected person.

No but he very well could be infecting driver and anyone else in car during this stunt. Wildly irresponsible. Then again, he flew to NJ to meet >200 people, maskless, after known close exposure to newly diagnosed case (Hope Hicks) while reportedly symptomatic. He doesn't care.

@RotoPenguin @Craig_A_Spencer @govkristinoem They love socialist handouts! And their R congressmen love to give them socialist handouts! Just don't call them "socialist", "handouts" or "welfare", which they don't believe in. Call them "subsidies" or "crop support" or a "military base", "federal jail", "VA hospital", etc.

@NateSilver538 Ahead of healthcare workers? Bull*hit. We have tiers of healthcare worker for #COVID19 #vaccine at our hospital. We're waiting in line to prioritize those at highest risk. If we can do medicine remotely via ZOOM, etc., as we have done for months, these people can do almost all.

Incidence of anaphylaxis: 0.001%. Penicillin anaphylaxis is 0.02% to 0.04%. #covid19 #vaccine seems quite safe in this regard, and well worth the risk.
Nancy Messonnier @CDCgov on the first 1.9 million Covid Pfizer/Moderna vaccines given in US:.-21 cases of anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. But this didn't cause death in these people. -17 of them had prior allergic reactions to drugs & stings (1/3).

I like what's in this, including the hiring and mobilization of an "army" of 180,000 contact-tracers. Hopefully this goes somewhere as a coordinated national strategy for getting some resources needed to open up somewhat safely.

@burgessev @bhrenton Look, Cassidy is a physician, and he has spent hundreds of hours on medical rounds. The man has some critical faculties. If you pulled that kind of presentation on medical rounds, you'd be remediated to first year medical school. Shockingly bad, even w bar set as low as it was.

@paulkrugman This the thing on Biden. He's actually delivered, to extent that wouldn't have been thinkable in Dec 2020. The history books will laugh at much of the contemporary media obsessions and coverage. Lots of Dewey beats Truman headlines past 19 months.

@NateSilver538 #Biden got 3-4 bump after first debate, so 1-2 regression isn't too surprising. I suspect this will settle at 8-9. Problem for #POTUS is that 2nd #Debates2020 likely won't get him closer, and #COVID19 headlines between now and 3 Nov are going to be relentlessly negative.

@atrupar If I'm Warnock, I would love this race. Herschel is not going to stand the scrutiny of a general, even in GA. It's a form of abuse to put the man forward, although those behind him are not interested in his well-being. Anyone who loves him needs to stage an intervention.

@maggieNYT Could have never guessed that in 2015-16, Chris. The guy who closed NJ beaches over July 4, but decided OK for his family to go. And closed a bridge during rush hour in political pique. Just another Trump enabler, apologist and opportunist.

@chrislhayes When I worked in a hospital in Italy at Ancona for a summer, there was a hospital bar. Had an espresso there every morning and a beer or glass of wine in the afternoon. After ripose, of course. I was working in a hospital lab, for full disclosure.

@NickFondacaro @ABsteward @jaketapper you're missing or down-playing that even asymptomatic #COVID19 in hospital diverts resources and places strain on infra-structure, already under pressure by staffing shortages. To a hospital and its operations, all COVID-19 exerts cost. #omicron.

@AJDelgado13 Other than dreaming of the Obamas course. Joe was the perfect 2020 D candidate as it turned out. And Kamala the perfect Veep. I railed against the man in primaries, but it was historic turn when man and moment met. Tolstoy would have something to say. #elelction2020.
