end of a 12hour day in practice....colleagues off with covid. I mistakenly have come on twitter and found really horrid messages sent to me. Thanks. but i proud to be a GP, and a Professor and being vaccinated against CoVID-19.

I am a GP and have been seeing patients throughout this pandemic.
I have had all three doses of the vaccine because they are effective, safe, and this will protect me and others against severe illness and death.

However, GP is changing very significantly and it may not be to everyone's liking.

-advising patients to use GPs for emergency care today - no mention that primary care is also impacted by junior doctors' action for pay restoration - which i and my colleagues absolutely support. Our trainees are the GPs of the future.

the word 'resilience' blames the individual.
Mental health problems such as anxiety, stress and depression are now the commonest causes of absence from work for NHS staff. Addressing this requires tackling the root causes; and not just sending staff on resilience and wellbeing courses.

I have been an NHS doctor for nearly 40 years. the current situation is heartbreaking.
I’ve been an NHS doctor for 20 years.
I remember when it used to work - when patients were see in a timely fashion, when people weren’t dying from waiting, when we were staffed and funded better
But over the last 14 years the NHS that I knew has been decimated

I have nearly 40 years experience of working in NHS. 30+ years as a GP. it has never felt so dire.
Public satisfaction with the NHS is at a record low - so what’s it like working in it currently?
As a doctor with nearly 17 years experience working in the NHS (12 of those as a GP) I’ve never known it to be so good 😊
If by “good” I mean an absolute bin-fire of course ☹️

My story is very similar to this and I would not be a professor of cardiology without the educational opportunities gifted by the wartime generation- these opportunities have been removed from today's young people and social mobility is now strictly limited
