Thanks to the hard work of the Cathedral City Public Works Department, the 10 freeway is now accessible from Date Palm Drive. On and off ramps are open to traffic. Cathedral City advises Vista Chino from Avenida Maravilla to Date Palm Drive remains closed

Fire Chief Kevin Nalder reports a brush fire near the Tram has burned 40 acres just east of Racquet Club near Tramview Road. Initially, about 20 homes were evacuated, but a fire line has been established protecting these homes. Residents have been told they can return home.

ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE: Vista Chino has fully reopened in Palm Springs. However, the final section of the road in Cathedral City from Avenida Maravilla to Date Palm Drive remains closed. Cathedral City officials inform that they hope to reopen that section by Thursday.

The Palm Springs City Council appointed Assistant City Manager Teresa Gallavan as Interim City Manager during its Council meeting Thursday evening. Gallavan will take over for Justin Clifton, who announced his resignation on July 18. His last day will be Sept. 16.
