🚨 32% of Nevada’s state budget comes from federal funding. When that funding was temporarily frozen, it wasn’t just a headline – it put real people’s livelihoods on the line across our state. What did that mean? It meant state programs that provide critical health and childcare services to families in need were immediately at risk. It meant uncertainty for public schools, law enforcement agencies, and hospitals trying to keep their doors open. It meant potential cuts to programs that combat hate crimes, support survivors of violence, and deliver life-saving disaster relief. That’s not politics – that’s real life. And as Attorney General, my job is to ensure that we don’t have to worry about our paychecks, our medicine, or our safety in the Silver State. So I fought back on behalf of all of us in Nevada – and, at least for now, we won. Last week, I also traveled to Fernley, Winnemucca, and Elko to hear directly from folks about what was at stake for them during the funding freeze. Because I don’t know about Washington, but I know Nevada. And I’ll always put the Nevada family first.
