@DerrickEvans4WV Fill the 5 gallon jug halfway. Fill the 3 gallon jug halfway and pour into the already half full 5 gallon jug. 2.5 + 1.5 =4

@restoreorderusa There are plenty of unnecessary or wasteful projects, but I donāt think people understand how extensive and complex federal funding actually is. Until it was clarified this also affected water, sewer, and electric, especially rural.

Iāve spent my career working to try and help others realize Recovery, and itās taken me a while to try and articulate what I mean by that. So what do I mean when I say it? I mean personal dignity. I mean autonomy. I mean self-determination. Todayās sudden shut down of all federal funding sources made me realize that there isnāt time for extended research, expansive white papers, and theorizing. To help individuals suffering from a substance use disorder return to life weāve got to face that fact the unlimited, repeat episodes of expensive clinical/medical services (treatment) by itself is very ineffective. Placing people in a restricted, tailored environment and then back out into society with no meaningful connection to community only sets them up for disaster. Also, we canāt alleviate individuals of all consequence for their actions and hope for change. So what are the answers? Treatment, sure, people need essential short-term medical or clinical stabilization. BUT THAT IS ONLY THE BEGINNING, NOT THE ANSWER! Community Based Recovery Support Services are absolutely critical and need to be part of every care plan. Recovery Housing, access to a Recovery Community Center, and an opportunity to work. For many that DOES NOT mean peer support either. We do have a lot of great programs in this state, but weāve also got a lot of programs that are perfectly content to simply collect a Medicaid reimbursement check. Also, bulletin, recovery housing and RCOās hardly realize any reimbursement if theyāre operating legitimately because those services arenāt reimbursable. Recovery is not some mystical, specialized thing that only a doctor or clinician can deliver; in fact they cannot deliver it. They can set the stage, but it is the community and the ability to BECOME a part OF that makes recovery. The Medicaid gravy train officially pulled into the station today. Itās over, if not right this second, soon. If youāre serious about RECOVERY, for helping an individual return to dignity and an independent life then weāve got solutions. The current paradigm isnāt working, weāve got to get serious about what works. The time is now, otherwise the baby is getting thrown out with the bathwater. Pass or fail I will advocate for things that really work; community, CBRSS, and public/non-profit partnerships that put real collaboration and cost sharing over territory and ego.
