@0rangech1ps @Sonny496 @BBCBreakfast Due to poor return on capital employed (as people want cheap food) paying IHT would mean having to sell land when an older generation dies therefore reducing size of farm. Food needs to be more expensive to increase profits. Right, I have to get on with my honest days work now.

Please read history of the Common Agricultural Policy intoduced in the 60s that led to society having affordable food. We're talking IHT here. Farmers = asset rich, cash poor.
