When a DM introduces a turn timer, “puts their foot down”, or kicks a player out of the game, sure, it could be the DM is on a power trip, but these kinds of decisions can be empathetic as well. 1/
This is something I have noticed to a bit.
It’s always weird when I see it. Dont get me wrong, I’ve tried a few. I won’t pretend they aren’t effective at times.
But I never forget that the people at my table are my people. My friends.
I’m not their tyrant, I’m their DM.

Playing my first game using the 2024 Rules this week. Made a 6th level character that is Rogue 1/Ranger (Hunter) 5.
I have to say, for supposedly the 2 weakest classes, it looks pretty strong to me. Hunter's Mark + Nick mastery is a nice combination.

It is disappointing to see the negative stigma of optimization and character builds continues in the D&D community.
PSA: Character builds are often specifically focused on making the rest of the party better at what they do. That is part of what optimization is.
Something I dislike about optimization in

is the focus is on *character builds

Basic D&D, I was a Cleric, and I remember being rewarded by my diety for protecting a statue of them from the thief who was the other player. My older brother was the DM, and the other player was a neighbor.

I should add, you can totally pick apart non-AI art in the same way. Look how the dragon's tooth has a weird misplaced shadow. It has the horn on one side of it's head and just nothing on the other. The sword becomes a fuzzy blob at its tip. One leg is bare, the other is covered.
