Super exciting to see this novel idea from forming to implementation in just a few months! Amazing speed.
Traditional 2p requires 2 photons to be absorbed w/in femtoseconds, necessitating costly lasers with high peak powers. Instead, we’re populating triplet states, which last nanoseconds to seconds. To our knowledge, we’re the first team to demonstrate this transition optically in free space with fluorescent dyes and proteins. In other words, we’re the first to draw the arrow from S0 → T1 for multiphoton excitation:
