To illustrate Brian’s point using a different topic… We understand the logic behind why USAID would fund leftist NGOs. The real question is why would USAID directly and indirectly fund NGOs on the opposite side? The first conclusion folks are jumping to is that the “legit” NGOs are actually illegitimate bc of their funding source. The story goes, they’re bad actors and have knowingly taken dirty money and are working against America, we just didn’t know it. I have an alternate working theory: 1. Given the complexity of the USAID > NGO network money laundering scheme many on both sides, farther down the chain of the power structure didn’t know where grant money / funding came from. 2. That’s the goal of money laundering. 3. That still doesn’t answer the question of why were NGOS on both sides of any given issue or vertical funded by the same source? It’s counterintuitive. 4. Money buys control & power. 5. To truly manage an outcome, the strong play is to control all sides or aspects of the game or issue. 6. When going deep on election related funding, DRs charts keep demonstrating the major money flows get back to the same 6-10 big money NGOs. 7. If the goal is to control elections & election results, the move is to buy-out both sides. 8. One example of why this is such a savvy move is if the puppet masters buy-out their opposition, they have access to all sorts of sensitive information on their opponents. Newsletters, documents, plans, people, conversations… 9. The puppet masters have the opposition’s playbook, and the opposition doesn’t even know it. Point is - to point at the money laundering and not ask why, misses the bigger picture. Again, this is a working theory. Lmk what else you see as a plausible reason for why some “good” NGOs were funded by dirty USAID money.
