The owner of this Nicolo Gagliano violin, made in 1758, is relieved after its safe return. The violin was taken in a burglary. Chicago Police Detectives and Officers worked hard to ensure its safe return.

A resident, who was struck by a vehicle and sustained serious injuries came by the 1st District to thank the two officers who responded on scene to help her and her 7 year old daughter. The daughter provided crucial information to the responding Officers while mom was unconscious

On Wednesday a Salvation Army Bucket was stolen from a Loop corner. The 1st District Tactical and Foot Patrol Teams conducted a successful investigation and today were able to recover the Bucket and make an arrest. We support the SA and their blessed mission. Great Job!

1st District Officers responded to shots fired (0-100 block of East 21st) and observed a vehicle suspected to be involved. 2 suspects fled from that vehicle and were placed into custody. 2 firearms were recovered and the vehicle was found to be stolen. Felony charges approved.

On March 17th a group of young people attacked a Citizen near a CTA Station and took their phone. Detectives have been investigating the case and were able to identify 1 of the offenders. The 1st District Tactical Team found this subject and took him into custody. Nice Teamwork!

After a performance at a CTA Train Station an offender stole the Victim's guitar and fled. The Officers spoke with CTA Employees and had the train stopped a distance away. They found the Offender and CTA video showed the crime. The subject was Arrested / Felony Charges approved.
I was just informed that there is a Ukrainian caravan currently traveling from East Dundee to Buckingham Fountain for a large rally. This group contains approximately 1,000 vehicles, so I anticipate major traffic disruption in the Central Business District.
The pictured Hand Gun was recovered by the 001st District Foot Patrol Team yesterday. The person in possession of the Gun was charged with a Felony. This is another example of the outstanding Police work being done by our 001st District Officers.
1st District Tactical Officers conducted a traffic stop on the 500 block of South Wells St. During the investigation an illegally-possessed handgun was recovered and the suspect placed into custody.
Lieutenant Konow presents 1st District Police Officer McMahon with a Life Saving Award. Officer McMahon responded to the scene of a person shot and immediately went into action by placing a tourniquet on the victim. The Doctor later related the Officer saved his life!

Last night, there were disturbances taking place in Downtown Chicago. The CPD was aware of the possibility of this activity and had a plan and resources in place. Our Officers performed very professionally. There were no reports of looting, property damage, or serious injury.

The 1st District was honored to welcome Robert Swiderski and his organization, Running For Blue Lives, who just finished running 80 miles while stopping at each of the 22 CPD Police Stations. He did this to end the stigma of suicide and mental illness and save lives!

Our mid-night Officers arrested 3 Subjects Thursday morning for Robbing a 7-11 Store in the Loop. They beat the Victim with a Skateboard while taking merchandise. All 3 were apprehended and charged appropriately. Another good job by our 1st Watch Officers.

1st District Officers observed a car illegally parked on State St. A run of the License Plate showed the plate to be fraudulent. A passenger was found to have the pictured Firearm on his person. The Offender was charged with a Felony and the Vehicle impounded. Great Job!!

Please be Aware! Offenders are continuing to use the ruse of passing out Flyers to steal property. They are approaching occupied cars in traffic, looking inside of vehicles, and reaching into cars to steal property. Always keep your car doors locked and property out of view.

Yesterday an individual was attempting to take his own life by jumping from a building an S. Michigan Ave. Police & CFD responded and because of the outstanding work by all, especially the Crisis Negotiators the situation was resolved and the subject taken to the Hospital.

On Tues. a vehicle was taken from a person at a gas station. That vehicle was then used to commit at least 2 Cell Phone Snatch & Grab Thefts. The Tactical Team had this information and saw the vehicle. It was stopped. 2 persons were arrested and charged w/ Felonies. Great Job!
An Off Duty CPD Officer was approached by a person who attempted to rob him. The Officer was able to thwart the Robbery and take the offender into custody. No one was harmed. The Officer's actions certainly prevented others from being victimized. Thank You and Great Job!
