Kurunvir has never been much of a morning person, but it was worth getting up for A*A*A in Economics, Maths and Business. Kurun is off to Leeds University to do a Maths and Finance Degree and is hoping for mainly afternoon lectures. A phenomenal set of results, Kurun.

Over the past few years, a high number of our Sixth Formers have signed up for the stem cell register. We were overjoyed when we got our first donor. This is Hannah, our head girl becoming our SEVENTH donor, making us second highest school in the country for successful matches!

Online pastoral tutorials are taking place everyday during form period for our self-isolating Year 12/ 13s. Students can touch base with their tutor, ask questions, receive year group messages, be signposted to our wellbeing resources. Both our staff and students are so adaptive.

Pupils in over this week of ‘holiday’ have enjoyed making keyrings, Papier-mâché Easter eggs, painting stones and lots of other crafts and sport activities. Today we started our rainbows too 😀 They are all being so brilliant, creative and kind and our staff are just brilliant!

The 2018 Uganda team have done their assembly to Years 7-11 this week. They have just received a cheque from Sharon Brown from Melbourne Arts Festival for £600, after they helped to sell £6,000 of souvenir trial guides. Only a Sixth Form and parent assembly left to go.

Today, we waved off 28 year 12s and several staff who are setting off to Uganda. Huge turnout from parents and past students from previous trips. Speeches by Miss Jones, Mr Clarke, Mrs Rumsey and a speech about John Dickens from Mrs Holdgate. Zoryana's speech stole the show!

This weekend 106 of our Year 9 students completed and passed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh qualifying. They all did an absolutely amazing job and made the supporting staff and school very proud. Well done to them all!

Our U14s have done it again!! Chellaston Girls crowned County and City champions. The U14 netballers have managed to bag the title of tournament winners not once but twice in the past month. So so proud!!

Our school community collected donations for the Ukrainian humanitarian crisis during 7-11th March. Yesterday we sorted and boxed up donations with help from our year 10 and 6th form students. These were then taken to the Ukrainian Centre in Weston.

Each year, the Uganda team has a different colour and name. Last year, the yellow lion Simbas went to Kampala. The purple Mirindas were the colour of an African drink. This year, the 2018 party are the Touracos, named after the fruit-eating African bird.

89% of our students got a GCSE grade 4 or above in English. That's almost nine out of ten of our students hitting that national benchmark.
But we mustn't forget those students that also got a 1,2 or 3. They worked just as hard and most exceeded their target grades.

This morning some of our environment committee joined the City Council and Chellaston Residents Association to install 7 great planters and clean up the pavements and parking areas of Ridgeway precinct. Pupils were amazing and worked really hard in the cold!

During our last day the Y10s went to Essex Farm cemetery. They saw one of the youngest soldiers buried. He was 14 when he enlisted/15 when he fell. They also saw graves marked 25th December. It is also the site where John McCrea penned the famous poem In Flanders field.
