Hearing of how the control room & contact centre night shift saw the
#Plymouth
incident on the news and came straight into work.
That’s dedication to the community right there.

30-year-old Blagovest Hadjigueorguiev has been charged with Arson with Intent, Section 18 GBH with Intent against a Police Officer and an Attempted Section 18 GBH with Intent against a second Police Officer who was uninjured.
He is due to appear at Truro Magistrates Court today
Just sending my thanks to a dog handler who single handily arrested a violent male in Bodmin who was carrying a knife. Officer has some minor injuries from the struggle but made the arrest and one in custody.
Great work!
We’ve just purchased hand sanitiser from
@HealeysCyder
for our frontline crews.
A cider farm repurposed to brew alcohol hand sanitiser for NHS & emergency services as part of the National effort to beat this virus! Thank you!

A small number of empty shelves but plenty of food for everyone
Good to see max 3 items policy in force
I post this to reassure the people of Cornwall...no need to panic buy!
Just get what you need!
Leaving enough for vulnerable & NHS workers
The thin blue line patch is in memory of fallen officers and sold in support of the charity

Thin red, green & orange patches are also available for Fire, Ambulance & SAR.

All our officers & PCSOs have personal issue tourniquets, for self aid and first aid.
Please remember…carry them on your vest/belt. There’s no good in the car if you have a cat bleed
Just part of ensuring our frontline have the equipment they need

Visited an injured officer at home, to present a commendation certificate.
Worst injuries from an assault on a Police Officer I’ve seen in my career. Sadly he will be unable to return to work.
Humbling.
Offender now in prison for 6 years.
Very serious incident. My thoughts with our officer.
Police Officer airlifted to hospital with life changing injuries.
Male arrested for attempted murder of officer
I will be in Newquay this afternoon to see team and speak with media
Just spoke with the most important person in the station. Our cleaner.
Excellent work and she’s even staying late to ensure all the handles and door plates are cleaned.
Thank you to all our station cleaners!
Today marks 20 years since I joined the Police full-time
I don’t know where the time has gone
Like all officers, I’ve seen the best & worst of society, locked up hundreds of criminals & even saved a life or two.And I’d do it all again!
(For the record that’s the same tunic!)😂

reflecting on these rank slides of mine, 22 years apart.
Specials-your voluntary contribution is amazing. Set your mind to it and you can achieve whatever you desire.
Thank you for your service.
A sad farewell to PCSO Riggall who retires today.
26 yrs Royal Navy
13 yrs Police Officer
15 yrs PCSO
That’s 54 yrs service to the Crown and the community.
Thank you.
A great loss for Torpoint.
Saturday night, busiest time of the week. I’m out and about in Cornwall tonight meeting the teams and helping out at incidents.
First stop StAustell, great work by the late team, already made an arrested.
Now heading West!
A nail biting view from the ops room, watching live drone footage of the bomb’s movement from back garden to sea.
(Actual drone footage will be shared with media shortly)
An amazing & challenging week as night shift Silver Commander
#G7Summit
Extraordinary work by officers & staff deployed from around UK
Proactive arrests preventing disruption & many tricky incidents resolved.
Thank you to everyone who worked long hours to deliver a safe event.
First day in new role, as BCU Commander for Cornwall, for five 5 months while
@CornwallCmdr
is away on his own temp promotion!
Really looking forward to the job!
Today spent planning new software & smartphones for our teams across the Alliance & Home Office Taser bid for D&C.
Following incidents where prisoners attacked officers, Astra with secure seat on demo this month
NOT to replace secure van for violent prisoners but for prisoners you’d usually put in a car.
Twitter....
Any thoughts?
Any examples of attacks on officers by prisoners in cars?
In Cornwall, all patrol cars have defibs provided by the FLEET charity
We’re also equipping cars later this year with better first aid equipment: Single use bag value mask & pressure dressings
Part of our ongoing program to give patrol the best equipment

Tough day for Cornwall Police
But I’d like to thank the public who helped, the officers from all departments who turned out and
@CornwallFRS
@swasFT
@cornwallairamb
@TreliskeD
for speedy response & treatment of officer

A tough day for the police in Cornwall. Various teams from around the force came together and delivered superb, calm, balanced, professional policing.
Thank you to them and those who protested peacefully.
Last day as Police Commander for Cornwall
It’s been an honour to lead our 600 hard working officers & staff through a tough year. Their tenacity and bravery shone through.
Looking forward to new challenge as head of Contact & Resolution
(Other packing boxes are available 😉)
Can’t bring myself to RT or QT some of the ridiculous tweets from the past few days, as it only increases their reach.
Gutter journalism focusing on a senior officers dress and age.
The UK needs to do better than this.
I stand with Detective Superintendent Rebecca Smith.
An officer was air-lifted to Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske, with serious burns. He was later transferred to Derriford Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition. He is sat up and in good spirits.
Majority of police time is helping people in distress
Children abused
Suicidal people
Domestic abuse
Rape
Antisocial behaviour
Missing people
Burglaries
RTCs
This is policing bread & butter
If you want to dispose of police, then by extension, you must support these activities?
Devon & Cornwall and Dorset Officers.
Please carry your personal issue tourniquets! (Currently being issued at PST)
You never know when you’ll need it!

Our patrol/response colleagues are the backbone of UK policing
Things aren’t perfect I know
But we’ve put in a lot of effort to give them better kit. Including 4x4s & better patrol cars
In fact, many new cars delivered this month now being fitted out!
#ResponsePolicingWeek
Special Constables are often the first, and sometimes the only response to violent incidents. It makes absolute sense they carry equipment to keep the public & themselves safe
They already carry baton & spray.
From 2017 we offered all uniformed frontline officers Taser
It’s essential kit to keep public & officers safe
We did get 90% of patrol carrying but recent significant recruitment means it’ll take a while to get back to this level. But we’re working on it!
#ResponsePolicingWeek
❗ Cordon is being lifted ❗
We have been notified by the military that operation has been a success and the bomb has been removed. We can now start removing the cordon so people who have been evacuated can return to their homes. Roads will be busy! 👇
You’d think people with COVID symptoms would be tucked up in bed!
Several symptomatic suspects arrested in past week for GBH, drink driving & even violently assaulting police officers.
Our brave officers are attending these incidents, at risk of exposure, to keep us all safe 👏🏻
This morning we’ve got 100% of 999s answered in 10secs and currently no 101 calls waiting at all.
181 emails in the queue that we’ll fly through.
Great work by the team.
(Red boxes should be green ICT fixing this!)
There’s a small group of people, outside of the NHS, who HAVE to go hands on with people they KNOW have COVID. (As we’ve seen many times).
Frontline: Police. Prison officers. Fire. HMCG. RNLI. And a few others.
That’s got to be good reason for some sort of vaccine priority.
On my way to see
@DC_PCC
when I witness a car on A30 at Okehampton undertake, tail gate then floor it.
Stopped & dealt with.
60 died on D&C roads last year. So any chance I get to improve road safety and maybe prevent accidents, I take.
Hottest day of the year so far, so we’ve let our amazing contact & control staff wear non-uniform today
Check out this splendid shirt modelled by one of our Exeter Contact Officers 👕
Writing to an unhappy victim who says "the police can't be bothered to do their jobs"
Heart breaking
The reality is after years of cuts in England & Wales we have 40,000 fewer staff and we cannot do everything that we did in the past....we have to prioritise
We so want to do more
An officer driving home from last night’s Cornwall Police Awards ceremony stopped at an incident in Truro and saved a life!
Think he’ll be back at the next ceremony!
@CornwallCmdr
#Proudtopolice
Every day my team makes a positive difference to people’s lives.
They help...
Save lives.
Protect the vulnerable.
Lock up criminals.
I’m proud to lead them.
Honoured to receive my long service & good conduct medal today from the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall &
@DCCJimColwell
I don’t know where the time went. But I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Thanks to
@DCPForceAwards
for an amazing ceremony.
Good court result today
Bodmin offender spat in officer’s eyes and damaged cell last week. Sentenced to a total of 40 weeks imprisonment (26 of which was for assault, 14 for damage).
Excellent support from the court.
It’s official.. Devon & Cornwall has the lowest crime rate in the country!
Thank you to our dedicated & hard working team ... this represents decades of hard work catching criminals, prevention activity & working closely with the community & partners.
5 years ago in Falmouth: about 150 officers plus 6,000 members of the public turnout to pay tribute to the late PC Andy Hocking, the Falmouth beat officer, who had died the week before.
A remarkable day.
Amazing work by officers at Looe overnight, entering a burning wooden gazebo to rescue a male.
Male receiving treatment in hospital.
Officers treated on scene by ambulance for smoke inhalation.
Very brave.
I don’t get to stop many cars.
But undertaking me at speed, in the rain, cutting up the car in front of me, to get past a lorry we were about to overtake....
That’ll do it!

| This is the shocking moment two paramedics were stabbed in
#Wolverhampton
.
Knifeman Martyn Smith has been jailed today for 9 years.
The paramedics consented to us releasing the video to highlight the dangers Blue Light workers can face while protecting the public.
Several emails from the public, some complaining we are enforcing the lockdown too harshly, others asking for greater enforcement
This tells me we're probably getting it about right
Pease bear with us, this is an emergency law and usually we'd have a lot more time to prepare!
Police vehicle rammed overnight in Penryn by a suspicious car, injuring the officer.
Offending vehicle located nearby on fire - suspected driver arrested.
Great police work - officer only has minor injuries

During the summer senior officers are spending a few days on the shop floor. Today I’m in our Plymouth contact centre taking 101 calls (single crewed, otherwise I just add to the burden)
Fantastic team pulling out all the stops to keep on top of our calls & digital contacts!

Our officer has a significant injury but is sat up in hospital and in good spirits. We’re supporting him and his family.
I’ve met with the Detectives who are pulling a VERY long shift to deliver a case file to prosecutors.
Very proud of the entire team.
Pleased to say
@DC_Police

As the daily death toll comes in at 917, thank you Cornwall for staying at home
Thank you tourists for staying away.. we look forward to welcoming you in better times!
Thank you Coastguard and RNLI colleagues for assisting with extensive patrols

Friday night late shift at Newquay Custody
Great to work with the team and see the challenges they face.
Just four prisoners currently.
One of whom was only released from prison 10 hours ago and sadly is back with us.

A few notes on the UK Emergency Alert system,used for the first time yesterday in Plymouth…
📱 🚨 📱
It ‘stayed on’ until we opened the cordon & was sent to phones in a defined area. Any phone that later entered the area was alerted, which explains why some got it later.
After almost a decade as Tactical Firearms Commander, and five as a Specialist, rank has finally caught up with me! On my Strategic Firearms Command (Gold) course this week at

Sky News understands there are multiple fatalities following a "serious and tragic" incident in Plymouth - and a shooter involved has been shot.
The incident is not being treated as terror-related.

I’m left wondering what this has to do with buying & selling soap?
Display is out of context, doesn’t explain the campaign and looks like an attack on all police. Very disappointing.
@LushLtd
Went to an incident to see two officers who conducted CPR. Sadly it was unsuccessful but they gave it their best shot.
Tough job especially at Christmas.
This week, the night shift in Cornwall will be out checking for illegal overnight stays in all our beauty spots.
Visitors and locals are very welcome to enjoy Cornwall but you must not stay overnight.

Friday before Christmas. One of the busiest nights of the year so both
@CI_EastCornwall
and I are on frontline duties tonight (different stations)
Most patrols on 1700 start already at jobs by 1715!
Honoured to thank PC Frank Thomas for his service today, ahead of his retirement.

Thank you, Frank.
